Beatniks in Dorchester

Whalehead King reports:

... The usual collection of students and neighbors made their way to and fro around the JFK/UMASS T station, but today there were more than the usual number of beatniks. Apparently, the university is offering a class on Kerouac and Ginsberg because an inordinate number of students were dressed in their best, thrift store black. They were snapping theirr fingers as they talked and they kept looking upward as if expecting a bop apocalypse to start overhead any minute. No thunderheads clapped before 2:57, and by then the rain had stopped, at least temporarily. ...

Also: Later, when it started raining, a young man had to put on a cap because his umbrella sprung a leak.
