what's wrong with the new wgbh bldg? not enough brick or old-timey-ness? boston has long been the laughingstock of large american city architecture, finally here was a chance for a project with a progressive, thinking client, and not to be driven to lowest common denominator banality by a developer or a government agency..... personally i think it fits the site quite well and is stunning
To me, the building tries to be different, but succeeds only at being a shining example of generic, dull corporate architecture on an oversized scale. Not quite as banal as the buildings that have sprung up around Kendall Square...but close.
i went in there yesterday.didnt even know it was there until i saw it near the bank machine.not your typical d&d's setup inside either.it looks like they are trying to be a starbucks.lots of leather chairs and tables to put your laptops on.its going to be funny on winter mornnings when there are 45 irish dudes in there waiting for the painting van.why try to be so fancy?if im lookming for a place to hangout its not going to be dunkin donuts.
