Passive-aggressive parking notes on a Jamaica Plain windshield

JPYuppie spotted this note and its riposte on a windshield on Burr Street in Jamaica Plain this morning, although they seemed to have gone up last night after work.

Smashed in windows in the South End

Somebody looking for a parking space in the South End last night found one on East Brookline Street with a recycling bin next to it, so he or she pulled in, perhaps not knowing somebody had been using the bin to save it earlier in the week. As Neal Gaffey shows us the car now has two smashed windows, in the only neighborhood where space savers are never formally allowed.

Space saver in Boston neighborhood

Lauren took this photo this morning. Answer after the jump - and, yes, you probably got it right. Answer after the jump.

Southie's sweet and sour space saver
Chocolate in South Boston

A roving UHub photographer spotted this space saver on F Street around 12:30 p.m. today: Would-be parkers are invited to take some candy - and a noisemaker - and then just keep on circling.

And what innovative space savers are you seeing?

Best space saver in JP, on Woodman Street. Photo by Joe Growhoski.

5 p.m. marks the 48-hour period after the end of the official Boston Blizzard of 2018 Snow Emergency, and that means you have to get your space savers off the streets by then. Don't everybody rush out all at once, though.

At 9:28 p.m. on Friday, an outatowna in South Boston for the weekend to bar hop (OK, he or she actually said the purpose of the visit is to "bar hope," which works just as well) filed a 311 complaint about the locals: Read more.

Charlestown space saver

Garry Waldeck spotted this space saver on Albion Place in Charlestown, notes:

But dude, you didn’t even clear the spot.

The mayor's office announced the ban on parking on snow-emergency routes ends at 5 p.m. And with the 48-hour space-saver rule, that means you can use your cones, chairs and broken Ikea shelving to save your shoveled-out street parking space until 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Plow scraper

AV Morrison reports on an incident around 2 p.m. at the southeast corner of Mt Vernon and Louisburg Square:

I heard the plow truck scrapping the side of the car. And then the plower took the right tail light out! It was bent at a 90 degree angle for a few seconds before it cracked. I almost got hit by the large portion of it, which flew off towards the fence of the garden. And it was after that I took the license plate number of the plow truck guy. ... Whether he left a note for the SUV owner, I don't know.

A disgusted South End citizen files a complaint about people heading to BSO concerts who park on neighborhood streets and consider their $40 non-resident tickets a decent price for parking: Read more.

Jamaica Plain space saver in the snow

At 4:33 p.m., somebody sent 311 this photo of a space saver on Forbes Street in JP and demanded the city do something about it:

Someone clearly did not shovel this apt but is taking an ownership of the spot. Please remove this trash can and let the owner know that s/he cannot do that.

Walsh at salt dump off I-93

Walsh addresses winter preparation at DPW salt and equipment area off I-93.

Mayor Walsh said this morning it's steady as it goes for the city's informal rule that lets residents save parking spaces they've shoveled out after the end of a snowstorm serious enough to require declaration of an emergency declaration. Read more.

Chair space savers in East Boston

And somebody in East Boston, as Kristen D. shows us, is obviously in a big hurry to get ready.

When Sheila Fay went shopping at Roche Bros. today, she found somebody had attempted something amazing even by the exacting standards of the store's parking lot: A car whose driver managed to take up four parking spaces.

Alas, the judges later had to deduct a full point, because, as Susan Krasker Ellsbree shows us, somebody else managed to squeeze a car (granted, a small one) into one of the spaces.

A dismayed citizen reports on some winter-like behavior on Morrow Road in Brighton:

At least two residents on this street have been regularly using cones to save their spots. My roommate has been moving them and parking in the spots, but last night one of her tires was slashed. I know other people have been reporting these space savers and they just keep putting more out.

A parking space, that is. But the garage is heated and the driveway is positively radiant.

A perplexed citizen files a 311 complaint about a car parked on East 2 Street:

There is no resident sticker affixed to this vehicle. If a sticker was issued why isn't it on the vehicle? How do the residents know if a sticker was issued? If it had a sticker I wouldn't be wasting my time and yours!

Fenway residents tell non-residents to stop parking in their spaces

Sasha found this on her car - which was parked very definitely in a non-resident spot near the Whole Foods and BSO.

Seriously, Fenway residents?!
