Lone Star is great! Plus their nachos, street corn and taquitos are superb. If they have the lengua taco...go for that.

Mexican: Taqueria El Amigo, Taqueria Jalisco, Angela's Cafe, Tenoch, El Centro (the fanciest of the bunch)

Salvadoran / Guatemalan: Mama Blanca, Mi Pueblito

American-owned, Mexican style: El Pelon, Dorado Tacos y Cemitas (both do respectable Baja-style fish tacos, too)

Border-style: Lone Star Taco Bar

Fusion: InBoston (Korean/Mex), El Triunfo (Turkish/Mex, ask for a taco with kofta)

Creative: Tremont 647 (Tuesday nights only)

Especially southern California/San Diego style (smaller, refried not black beans but no beans unless requested, usually w/o rice?)

thanks.

In Everett, a Salvadoran place. Totally amazing, and nice folks. Easy to get to from Sullivan, Wellington, or Malden Center.

Mission Cantina in Amherst, MA is hands down the best in the state. Sadly the version in Brookline was never really up to snuff or made enough so it is no longer there.

Tacos Lupitas in Lynn is hands down the best (and cheapest) I've ever had. They're Salvadorean and delicous. Might take a ride over now

Try the taco party food truck. Their tacos are super yummy and really interesting. I particularly love the sweet potato taco.

Not necessarily an endorsement across the board, but the tacos al pastor at Anna's Taqueria are pretty damned good, as are the steak en salsa roja tacos (little lettuce, some sour cream, on nom nom)

I like Wapo, but they are a somewhat unique style and not for everyone. For authentic Tijuana street style tacos, Romano's is the place in Roslindale, and I'd say they stand up well against most other Boston taco joints. The chorizo or carnitas tacos are to die for, and they are one of the few places with such authentic fillings as cabeza and lengua. Good stuff!
