If the shelter's don't need it they are great to donate to nurses groups or doctors groups that work with poor folks in countries such as The Dominican Republic or Central American countries.
In addition to the aforementioned options, VA Hospitals have lists of needed items. Sanitary goods are often on said lists. At least the one in JP has a requested donations list.
I was just wondering something similar this morning--I have a bunch of very nice, high end perfume that I will never use (gifts from a dear relative who doesn't quite ever remember that I'm a one-scent kind of gal). They are so nice, all opened but unused (as in one spray, "oh--that's lovely, thank you so much") and I've been wondering what to do with them.
