Alex Howell asks:
Anyone know of any places where I can donate a nice iMac to? Don’t really want to deal with the wilds of Craigslist.

Bikes Not Bombs in JP will take it
https://bikesnotbombs.org/ uses Mac and would put it to good use if you would donate to them. They are also a non-profit and can give you a reciept for tax purposes.
Mac has a store in Hingham ,
Mac has a store in Hingham , maybe they can help you !
The easiest way.
https://www.apple.com/recycling/
And you may even get a few bucks for it.
and if you have a busted computer?
Mine's too old for recycling and it doesn't function all too well, so I'm just bringing it in for Electronics Recycling and Hazardous Waste Disposal. As long as you can prove you live in Boston you can drop it off.
The next one is coming up soon: Sat., Oct. 26 at the UMass Boston Bayside Parking Lot D, 9am-2pm.

Too old for recycling?
What a line of BS!
And the "you can't leave it out in the trash, you must lug it to a special "pick up your old electronics" day is an even greater line of BS!
But the fact the City's idiotic trash policies allow you to leave old TVs and the like for pickup, but won't take an old computer the same way is probably the biggest line of BS of all!
Pine Street Inn
The Pine Street Inn excepts electronics of all kinds. I've donated a few unneeded DVD players, for which I received a letter of charitable donation for tax purposes.
Freecycle
Freecycle Boston. I have given away a Mac using Freecycle.
