Resizing an antique ring

Girl Jo asks:

Do you know of a reputable jeweler who could resize an antique 1920s engagement ring by a half size?

Any recommended jeweler that is experienced in working with puzzle rings?

My wife's ring had a break in the bottom of two of the four rings. We took it to a jeweler in Stoneham, but in the end, they made it worse. They snipped all four rings (without asking us first) and asked us to reassemble it, but we think they bent the ring when they did this because now we can't reassemble it at all.

CT is unfortunately not local but it isn't too far away...

And yet I think it's worthwhile. Guess we'll be going there in the near future...

Joseph Gann in Downtown crossing was great - not only purchased my wifes 1920's antique engagement ring there - but they also custom fabricated a matching vintage inspired wedding band to fit it!

Both my wedding band and engagement ring are antiques, and were purchased and resized here: http://www.small-pleasures.com I think they did a good job with both, even though they were both sized down substantially.

Have also had antique and vintage rings, bracelets and necklaces re-sized by Small Pleasures -- excellent work, very professional. They have a jeweller in downtown Boston they send pieces to who is quite skilled.

Yuri's Watches in the back of the store is a great watch repair shop, too.

You can try Leo Carroll jewelers in Inman Square as well. It's a family run shop, very experienced and most importantly if he can't do it for you he would tell you up front instead of trying and it not working out.

I went to DeScenza with a ring older than yours and they did a beautiful job.
