The Greater Roslindale Medical and Dental Center in Roslindale Square will start Covid-19 testing on Monday - after it puts up a tent for it in the Taft Hill municipal parking lot tomorrow.

Testing will be by appointment only; the center says it will post details on its Web site.

Roslindale Village Main Street reports that Nathan Wright, a "former punk," will soon be opening the Intergalactic Trading Post at 65 Poplar St., where the Treasure Chest used to be:

Nathan's Intergalactic Trading Post will host Dungeons and Dragon games, potentially be a play space for young children, host art shows, and more.

The Boston Department of Neighborhood Development and the city Housing Innovation Lab say they've given up on the idea of putting an apartment building over the Taft Hill municipal parking lot in Roslindale Square - but will continue to look at ways of using other city property to increase the amount of affordable housing in Roslindale, a neighborhood they say has fallen below citywide averages. Although workers continue to clean up the damage from last week's burst pipe at the Roslindale Community Center, they've made enough progress that the Boston Elections Department reports it will be able to open a polling place on Tuesday for the Ward 19 voters originally scheduled to vote there.

Updated, 5 p.m.: The Roslindale Community Center School Council reports the building will be shut "indefinitely." The RMV urges people to make their way to other registry branches, such as the Haymarket and Watertown ones.

A pipe burst sometime overnight on the top floor of the Roslindale Community Center in Roslindale Square, flooding parts of the building, so both the community center and the Registry office in it are shut.

Roslindale Village Main Street reports the Roslindale substation just got a new tenant: A co-working space called Workhub at the Substation.

It's in the basement, where the Craft Beer Cellar used to be, below the Turtle Swamp beer hall.

For the fourth year in a row, local Jews gathered in Adams Park in Roslindale to light menorahs to start the eight-day holiday of Chanukah. Several people brought their own menorahs from home for lighting inside a tent at the official start of the evening around 4:12 p.m.. Read more.

Treasures, a thrift and antique shop, opened today at 4266 Washington St. in Roslindale Square, in the space where the Boston Smoke Shop used to be.

Meanwhile, workers today were converting the space where the Grossman's bargain outlet used to be at 630 American Legion Highway into space for Urban Renewals, which will be moving there from its current location on Brighton Avenue in Allston ... Read more.

The Zoning Board of Appeal yesterday approved a developer's plan to replace a house-like apartment building on Taft Hill Terrace in Roslindale with a four-story, 16-unit condo building - across the municipal parking lot from a recently completed 19-unit condo development. Read more.

Somebody's gussied up an abandoned old payphone box in the parking lot of the Roslindale Village commuter-rail station (the one near the bank).
