Old Frosty Freeze in Roslindale, where the Taco Bell would go

Old Frosty Freeze, where the Taco Bell would go.

A Taco Bell franchisee has started advertising for managers and workers at its proposed site next to the Wendy's on American Legion Highway even though it does not yet have approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals or the Boston Licensing Board and has yet to even pull permits from ISD to replace the small ice-cream stand that's now there. Seven Star Street Bistro on Belgrade Avenue might seem like the exact sort of place the creation of "neighborhood" liquor licenses in Boston was meant for - a small, entrepreneurial effort by a young chef in an outer neighborhood.

But the legislation that created the new licenses limited them to Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester - and the city's "main street" districts. Roslindale has one of those districts, but Seven Star is several blocks outside its borders and so ineligible for one of the new licenses. Read more.

Found a dead bat in our backyard in Roslindale. We think it suffered an injury which caused its death, but does anyone know if there is an agency in Boston or Mass that would want to know this info or look at the body? (By the way I love bats, so no need to share your bat hysteria if you are feeling any on our behalf).

Saucy reporter Mike Deehan analyzed campaign expense reports from state and local candidates in Massachusetts and found they've spent $275,000 over the past ten years on pizza.

Naturally, he posts a pizza pie chart to show the most popular outlets. The chart emphasizes Roslindale's lack of political clout - the Pleasant Cafe doesn't make the cut; in fact, it's beaten out by Pizza Hut and Papa John's (but here's the Pleasant Cafe list - Ed Coppinger and Mike Rush are fans).
