Madison Park High School and the O'Bryant School, which are next to each other on Malcolm X Boulevard in Roxbury, went into "safe" mode Friday afternoon because of what school officials say was a swatting: Somebody called Boston Police to report somebody was on the grounds of one of the schools with a gun, only when police arrived, they determined it was a hoax. The Boston Licensing Board today rejected a request from Cristian Market, 411 Blue Hill Ave. in Grove Hall, to add beer to its inventory, because of overwhelming opposition from nearby residents about the already easy access to beer at six other stores within a half mile. Read more.

Update 11 p.m.: The number of businesses and homes without power is up to 7,959.

Eversource reports a series of power outages from just north of Franklin Park up to Boston Medical Center and areas near Tremont and Dartmouth street to the turnpike. Some 204 business and homes were blacked out as of 10:05 p.m. - as well as traffic and street lights.

The group working to bring professional women's soccer to Boston yesterday filed detailed plans for its part of the overhaul of the decaying, fire-ravaged White Stadium in Franklin Park, which includes a new soccer pitch, replacement of bleachers with individual seats, a separate dining area including room for food trucks, a year-round restaurant and a beer garden and overhanging shade over the seats designed as an homage to the surrounding greenery. The Cruz Development Corp., which won BPDA approval in 2016 for a 44-unit senior-citizen apartment building at Warren and Waverly streets in Roxbury, is asking for permission to instead put up the building as a 48-unit affordable building open to anybody. Read more.
