Somerville Voices reports on a meeting at which MBTA General Manager Beverly Scott said the T had to be prepared for the potential loss of money from increasing gas taxes in order to win federal funding for the plan to someday extend the Green Line into Somerville and Medford.

On Tuesday, voters repealed a plan under which gas taxes would increase every year at the inflation rate.

Somerville, MA, Oct. 21 –New, relatively unregulated “ride sharing” transportation companies like Uber and Lyft earn the praise of travelers but are prompting protests from traditional taxi drivers and others.

Across the country, and the world, the media, public officials and others are discussing how to regulate the multi-million dollar industry. Some places – like Germany – have banned the service altogether. In Somerville and the Greater Boston Area, discussions are underway, but so far no regulations, much less bans, have been announced.

The Somerville Transportation Equity Partnership provides the good news/bad news update on extending the Green Line through Somerville: The good news is that design work for the Lechmere, Washington Street and Union Square stations is now 90% done. The bad news is that several more months have been added to the schedule for actually running trains to those stations.

Tufts Daily reports the university has changed the name of the system students and professors uses to access student information from the Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) to just the Student Information System (SIS), "based on the negative associations with the group Islamic State, formerly known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS)."

Molly Galler gives the re-opened and completely revamped on the inside Rosebud a resounding meh. Homemade biscuits with honey butter were "pure nirvana," but the service was "painfully slow."
