Fort Point Blog reports BTD is working to increase the number of resident-only parking spaces in the neighborhood, but has rejected local requests to start issuing Fort Point resident stickers, rather than continuing to give residents South Boston stickers:

Their position is that South Boston is one neighborhood and will not be separated.

The Boston Fire Department ordered the evacuation of the InterContinental Hotel around 2 a.m. after fire broke out in electrical conduits in the hotel basement. Some guests were put up to the ballroom of the Boston Harbor Hotel on Rowes Wharf for the duration, others were brought to a nearby Hilton, the department reports.

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man on charges he broke into cars along Congress Street in search of electronics.

Police say they found Tony C. Goforth, 48, shortly before 2 a.m. with a knapsack full of "electronic items including cameras, cell phones, I-Pods and GPS systems."

He was charged with breaking and entering motor vehicles, receiving stolen property and possession of burglarious tools. Police say he was also charged of possession of illegal prescription medicine.

An earthquake in Quebec near the Ontario line sent tremors through the Boston area shortly before 2 p.m. A residential building at 1180 Beacon Street in Brookline was evacuated after it began shaking, possibly because of the quake, Neal Simpson at Brookline Patch reports.

The Boston Licensing Board today considered incidents outside bars in Roxbury and Fort Point Channel that police said may be linked to the board's decision last year to reduce the hours at Packy Connors on Blue Hill Avenue.

On Congress across from luckys @ work. Whole building has lost power, and there were about 5 fire trucks at the Reuters building when I walked by 45 min ago. Not sure what the deal is, but whole block seems to be down...

District C-6 reports two jewelry heists sometime this past weekend at 25 Channel Center, part of a complex where prices start at $759,000. In one case, on the 11th floor, "assorted antique jewelry valued at approximately $213,000 was stolen." In the other case, on the 8th floor, "assorted antique jewelry, Flamet painting, and a Dell laptop" worth a total of $30,000 was lifted. In both cases, police say, there were no signs of forced entry.

BOLOBoston Police are looking for a 40-something guy on charges he ordered a worker at a South Boston convenience store to fill his backpack up with "all the store's money" shortly before 6 p.m. on Feb. 23.

After getting the money, the man left Metro Convenience, 253 Summer St. and fled toward South Station, police say.
