Eversource reports the power went out at 7:01 a.m. and that it hopes to have it back on by 10 a.m. The company says 6,035 customers are affected.

Mayor Walsh said this afternoon the administrator of the Curley Center at Carson Beach is on paid leave as the city investigates both what happened to Kyrzr Willis, 7, and what the city can do to keep kids safe in its summer drop-in and camp facilities.

Rabbit and tern in Boston's Back Bay

SteveBikes spotted this rabbit and young seagull giving each other the eye outside the Boston Athletic Club in South Boston.

UPDATE: As people are telling this bird-agnostic reporter, that's an immature gull, not a tern, so the headline's been adjusted accordingly. And thanks to Earl for the original headline idea.

Boston firefighters are on Winfield Street at East 8 Street in South Boston, where a transformer went kablam shortly after 10 p.m.

Eileen Murphy reports there was a manhole fire about an hour earlier on West Broadway.

Missing boy

WBZ reports police this evening found the body of Kyzr Willis in the water off Carson Beach.

The boy was last seen around 2:05 p.m. near the M Street bathhouse. Read more.

Police stopped the Red Line in both directions shortly before 9:45 p.m. because of a guy dumping things on the tracks at Broadway, including what appeared to be one of those heavy bomb-resistant trash barrels. Read more.

Around 1:10 p.m. Firefighters recovered the body shortly after 1:30 p.m. Police are now on scene to try to determine how the person died and wound up in the water.

A body was last pulled from the channel in March.

The Boston Business Journal reports a state official says building a temporary helipad in Boston by September is "doable," says that that would be like a bus stop, while the permanent location would be more like a bus station. No word on whether they'll take CharlieCards - or, for that matter, where they want to put it. We need to get this thing in place quickly because we'd hate to disappoint GE, which is, of course, moving here in part because we're a world-class city and world-class cities have helipads.

Mothra in South Boston

A concerned citizen complained about the moth situation at M and East 3 streets in South Boston today.

The city has already marked the complaint "invalid," no doubt because the people who used to work in 311 have been replaced by moths.

We just walked through Roslindale Square and there are so many gypsy moths you have to keep your mouth closed to avoid one flying in. Reports are coming in of equally gross conditions in South Boston and Dorchester.

Josh Deering reports his flight into Logan last night had to sit 20 or 25 minutes at the gate to clear a swarm of the moths to connect the jetway.
