Firetrucks at 100 Widett Circle cold-storage fire

UPDATE, 9:25 a.m. Second alarm struck.

Boston firefighters are at the AmeriCold Storage building, 100 Widett Circle, for a fire in basement ducts and first-floor loading dock. Ammonia is present. At 8:40 a.m., the first-floor fire was declared knocked down and the flow of ammonia into the building turned off.

Ryan Mcgrale's Facebook page is filling this morning with remembrances after his unexpected passing yesterday. Mcgrale, one of the pioneers of the craft-cocktail movement in Boston, was the beverage director at Tavern Road on Congress Street.

Rather big police presence at Castle Island around 10 a.m. - including a State Police helicopter - looking for whoever thought it was a good idea to use the peninsula right across the harbor from Logan to fly some drones. It's what the FAA likes to think of as "restricted airspace."

Boston Police report a man who robbed the Citizens Bank branch at 441 W. Broadway yesterday afternoon tried to hide his face by pulling his sweater over it. But he did that in the bank, and after a teller had noticed the Band-Aid on his face. Read more.

The Boston Fire Department reports "careless disposal of smoking material" at 120 L St. in the Monsignor Powers project led to a fire around 5:10 p.m.that sent two residents and one firefighter to the hospital. Read more.

Blue Hills Bank Pavilion under repair

Earlier today, Matt the roving UHub photographer noticed the Blue Hills Bank Pavilion was in the process of being torn down and wondered why. Turns out it's not going away forever, just that the tent fabric is being replaced in time for performances to start up again in the spring.
