A Moroccan native who grew up in Revere will have to stay behind bars - serving a four-to-five-year sentence - as he appeals his conviction for smashing a glass into the face of a bouncer at a Seaport bar in 2018, because he is just too much of a flight risk to ensure he sticks around for another trial should he win his appeal, the Massachusetts Court of Appeals ruled today. The Boston Licensing Board last week approved plans by Alamo Drafthouse Cinema to purchase the liquor license of the closed Canary Square in Jamaica Plain for the ten-screen movie complex it wants to open at 60 Seaport Blvd. - the fourth time in four years that a Seaport chain has taken a liquor license out of JP. Boston Police have released photos of a guy they say attacked somebody outside Foodies, 230 West Broadway and tried but failed to get away with the person's car, around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 26. Read more.

Alves

Transit Police report arresting Dason Alves, 33, of Dorchester, for shooting a woman on a T bus near Andrew station on Dec. 30.

Alves was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and numerous firearm violations, police say.

Cohasset Police announced today they will charge a 16-year-old basketball play at Excel High School in South Boston with misdemeanor assault and battery for an incident during a game in Cohasset on Wednesday.

Tree out for disposal this morning

A concerned citizen or, perhaps, a Public Works employee out and about, based on the way the 311 report is written, noted at 6:28 this morning that somebody has already de-trimmed their Christmas tree and put it out for disposal at Beckler Avenue and K Street in South Boston.
