A Redditor reports that this tanker truck stopped just before striking a low-clearance bridge on Storrow Drive this morning, fouling up traffic.
Looks to be eastbound just before the Silber Way footbridge.

Kevin reports a truck driver who barely cleared the BU footbridge outbound this morning was gunning for the next bridge, but was pulled over by a state trooper who stopped him from testing his luck a second time and forced him to slowly back up under the footbridge and into one of those emergency cutouts to await the swift administration of justice. Kevin photographed the truck as it backed up.

Drivers on the river roads seem intent to make up for last year's absence of good storrowings over Labor Day weekend. James Sappenfield spotted a spectacularly storrowed truck on Soldiers Field Road inbound by the Harvard Business School around noon.
A rental-truck driver brought Storrow Drive inbound to a halt around 4 p.m. with another storrowing that left his truck looking like an occult hand had had some fun with a giant can opener. Read more.

The Globe reports the driver of that Duck Boat that had its roof peeled back like a can of Norwegian sardines yesterday was on Storrow Drive because traffic was being diverted around the State House due to a protest by MBTA janitors, many of whom are getting laid off. State Police fined the driver $100.

Shortly before 7 p.m. the driver of a Duck Boat learned first hand why Storrow Drive has those CARS ONLY sign, on the eastbound side, near Mass. Eye and Ear.
WBZ reports none of the 20 tourists on board was injured.

Kara Sassone found her inbound commute on Storrow slowed this morning due to both a bus AND a truck whose drivers managed to stop before slamming into the BU Bridge.

The Globe today posted a photo from 1955 by Boston-based photographer Ted Polumbaum showing guys jumping into the Charles River - from the far side of the then "modernized" Storrow Drive, which had become part of the river.

A fed-up citizen complains:
Every day at rush hour, the good drivers wait in the right lane to go onto Storrow. The bad drivers go in the middle lane right until the bridge then try and merge into the right lane. This causes so must traffic, causing the traffic from one end of the museum to the other to take 25 minutes. Please spend some time thinking how to resolve. Signage is clear, people are just being greedy drivers. Perhaps cones dividing the right lane from the center so they can not merge so late? Sincerely, a good driver who just wants to get home without becoming a bad driver.

UPDATED with more details from State Police.
Storrow Drive outbound by the Esplanade became mess shortly after 11:25 a.m. due to a pileup caused by two 17-year-olds from Brighton in a stolen car who proved unable to drive very well.
State Police report that after smashing into four cars, the two men inside jumped out and tried to escape by swimming in the Charles. They failed at that as well, however, and are now in custody.

Shortly after 10 a.m., State Police reported a truck driver heading out of town on Storrow Drive managed to smash his truck into the Bowker overpass, and now his truck is stuck there.
Cruisers enroute. Expect delays.

Alyssa Thompson captured the scene on Storrow Drive inbound shortly after 5 p.m. when the drivers of three charter buses (one out of camera view) managed to pull up short before peeling their roofs off like sardine cans.
