Alert New England reports somebody was stabbed in the throat by the Old State House entrance to the State Street T stop around 9 p.m. The T shut down the station to let police investigate the incident.

Christopher Baer tweeted not long after:

I saw a man holding a cloth to his throat getting into an ambulance outside State St. T station a few minutes ago.

Update: Suspect described as black male in 20s, in a black sweatshirt, dark jeans, black shoes and a black hat with a purple brim.

State Street tower evacuated due to water leak

The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters had to evacuate all 38 stories of 60 State St. when a second-floor leak sent water flowing into the building's electrical system in the basement.

The building normally has 2,300 or so workers on a weekday, the department says, adding the evacuation went smoothly.

Adam Weiss reports a T worker at State Street ordered him to put away his camera "because of 9/11."

Weiss adds it was one of the orange vests, not a T cop, and that he would have tried to explain the T's photo policy, but his train was pulling in.

A homeless man was arrested in the pedestrian tunnel between the Orange and Blue lines at State Street last night after a chase that began on an Orange Line train, MBTA Transit Police report.

According to a police report, Francisco Hernandez Diaz, of no particular address, took off his black leather belt on an inbound Orange Line train at State Street and began swinging it over his head and screaming, around 8:30 p.m., Monday.

As passengers swarmed out of the train to get away from him, a T inspector boarded the car. Hernandez took a swing at her with his belt, then stopped and undid his pants to expose himself to her. At that point, she fled as well, just as a police officer arrived on the platform, the report continues.

MBTA Transit Police report they are looking for a black male, a Hispanic male and a white female on charges they attacked a man because of his sexual orientation on a State Street Orange Line platform around 10 p.m. on July 10:

The victim was on the northbound platform when an unidentified male # 2 shoved him onto a train as the doors opened because of the victim's sexual orientation. The unidentified male # 2 as well as the individual depicted as # 1 directed several homophobic slurs at the victim after shoving him. The suspects depicted above along with an unidentified female companion, boarded an Orange Line train at State Street Station with the victim and continued to harass him about his sexual orientation. The suspects then fled the train at Haymarket Station.

If caught, they'll be charged with assault and battery and civil-rights violations.

Police hunt disgusting cigar smoker for Orange Line attack

MBTA Transit Police report they are looking for a guy who responded to a woman's request to put out his cigar at the State Street Orange Line stop by blowing smoke at her and then spitting in her face.

Police say the incident happened around 3 p.m. on April 8. After spitting at her, police say, "the suspect then calmly walked out of the station through the City Hall exit."

He's described as 45-50, with a short haircut. If found, he'll be charged with assault and battery.

Blue Line service halted as police chase man through tunnel and up onto State Street

Might be armed with a knife; climbed up an emergency exit at 136 State St., AlertNewEngland reports. Police are looking for a black man in his 30s, bald, in a gray hoodie and a Red Sox hat. Blue Line service resumed around 1:50.

All sorts of problems on the Orange Line today, from problems with the rails at Wellington in the morning to MULTIPLE dead trains in the evening. Matt Kurkowski says that at the height of a 30-minute delay at State Street, a train finally pulled in around 5:30 p.m. - with no lights on.

Problems on the Green Line this evening as well. Dead train on the Providence/Stoughton commuter-rail line.

No reported problems (yet) on the Red Line, but Denis Haskin reports gridlock at the Alewife garage again - at 6:11, he'd been sitting in his car for 30 minutes with "no movement at all."

State Street bar vows to shape up before city shuts it down

As several police officers recited a litany of problems at Kitty O'Shea's over the the past few months at a Boston Licensing Board hearing today - from fights and smoking patrons jamming up the sidewalk to blaring music audible down the block - bar attorney William Burke offered no defense, only a promise to do better:

"Clearly there was a problem here," Burke told the board. "Clearly things got out of hand and they got out of hand rather quickly."

Another day, another electrical fire on the T

Nowhere near as bad as the Red Line fire the other day, though. A cable behind a wall on the outbound Orange Line platform at State Street began to smoulder around 9:40 a.m.

I got off the Orange Line at State a few minutes later - after the train stopped briefly before pulling into the station. There was light smoke (not even as bad as the smog by the ticket counters at Back Bay on a normal day) and crews from one ladder truck and one engine studying and spraying the wall (not with water, with CO2?) near the exit to the Blue Line. The station wasn't closed; T police were there to keep people away from the wall, not evacuate the station.

Twin fires on the Orange Line?

UPDATE: MBTA says no fires.

Boston Police are tweeting there are fires in the Chinatown AND State Street stations on the Orange Line. Local 718 tweets firefighters are trying to determine the source of smoke on the Orange Line at Downtown Crossing.

The T itself is only reporting a disabled inbound train at Haymarket.

Smoking Orange Line train sparks brief disruption

The Boston Fire Department ordered power shut on the Orange Line between State Street and Downtown Crossing shortly after 10 p.m. when smoke appeared in the State Street station. Power was restored not long after when firefighters discovered the smoke was coming from one particular train, not another track fire, according to Boston Fireman and Local 718.
