The Metro reports BU today announced a new center to figure out ways to curb sexual assaults on campus.

The Daily Free Press, meanwhile, reports a woman getting out of an elevator in Warren Towers on Saturday was "inappropriately touched."

The Quad takes a look at Boston University's original plans for the land it bought along the Charles River in the 1920s - centered on a skyscraper in honor of local inventor Alexander Graham Bell. Today, if you know where to look at the School of Theology, you can see an echo of the plan - a metal engraving above a doorway of what the tower would have looked like.

BU student found shot to death on Allston street

WBUR reports a male student was found with gunshot wounds on Allston Street across from Glenville Avenue around 2:30 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene. BU Today reports he was a student in the Graduate School of Management. Boston Police report he was 24.

Channel 5 reports the apparent pledges at a non-sanctioned BU frat at 24 Ashford St. were also coated in flour when police found them in the basement early today and that frat members could face criminal charges.

Ross Levanto considers BU's answer to its hockey sex-assault scandal: a task force:

I work in the PR business, and when I hear "task force," I translate that to mean an institution trying to sweep something under a rug. According to a letter from President Brown, the task force will render judgement this summer. This summer? It's a brilliant PR move, so that next summer the task force can issue a slap on the wrist. The players allegedly involved in the recent incidents will be long gone from campus; chances are the women involved will be, too. Ironically enough, I provide this perspective based on practices taught to me while I was a student at BU.

Levanto says the school needs to be far tougher and ponders how John Silber would have reacted.

The move comes on the heels of the second arrest in three months of a BU hockey player for alleged sexual assaults, most recently on a rape charge. In a letter to students, BU President Robert Brown writes:

The charges in these cases understandably lead to questions about whether the hockey team's culture and climate have contributed in some way to the actions of the two individuals. The University must address these questions and, if deficiencies are identified, make necessary changes.

Another BU hockey player charged with sexual assault

BU Today reports Max Nicastro, a defenseman on the men's hockey team, was arrested early today by campus police. The Daily Free Press reports the incident happened in a dorm room.

Nicastro was ordered held in lieu of $25,000 bail and was immediately suspended from the team.

In December, another player was charged with forcing his way into a female student's room and groping her.

Man who jumped out of burning Allston building begins rehab for brain injury
