Two men have been charged with an Oct. 2 incident on Harlow Street in which one of them allegedly shot at a man sitting in a car and hit his car but missed him, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Flipped truck in Uphams Corner, Dorchester

21 Sandwich reports he came on this scene in front of the Payless shortly after 1 p.m. The driver appeared to have escaped with just minor injuries, he says.

One of the 17 people charged in connection with a crackdown on two Dorchester gangs was actually arrested last November, pleaded guilty to federal drug charges in February and was sentenced in May to 30 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release, during which he agreed to stay out of Grove Hall and Uphams Corner. A Suffolk Superior Court jury today deadlocked on the murder charge against Onyx White, charged with first-degree murder for the death of Geraldo Serrano, 71, during a robbery at the Hermanos Unidos store, 728 Dudley St., according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, which announced plans to re-try White before a new jury. Columbia Billiard Co., 558 Columbia Rd., has trouble with a capital T and is currently shut as its new owner awaits word from the Boston Licensing Board both on a series of violations found in a February inspection and its requests for the licenses it should have had before that inspection. Stanley Stacos reports that two houses on Wendover Street and one on Quincefield Street were hit by gunfire around 11:40 p.m. Not long after, a man showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that prosecutors can't use evidence found on the phone of a man charged with murdering an Uphams Corner convenience-store clerk because police seized the phone without any initial proof it had a connection to the murder, then waited 68 days before submitting a search-warrant request based on evidence that it might.

The ruling won't stop prosecutors from trying Onyx White, just 16 at the time, on charges he fatally shot Geraldo Serrano, 71, in the Hermanos Unidos store on Dudley Street on Feb. 21, 2010.

Boston Police report arresting a 15-year-old from Lynn they say threatened at least two people with a loaded gun on Dudley Street before pedaling away on a bike he'd stolen not long before.

The FBI's Bank Robbery Task Force reports the Santander Bank branch at 585 Columbia Rd., at Stoughton, was held up yesterday.

The suspect is described as 5'7" or 5'8" and muscular.

Mayor Walsh today annnounced a ten-year program, called Boston Creates, to "weave arts and culture into the fabric of everyday life" in the city.

The city will set aside money each year for public art projects - 1% of each year's spending on capital projects. One of the first areas to benefit will be Hyde Square in Jamaica Plain, where the city Public Works Department will spend $100,000 on public art to go along with a planned road upgrade. Read more.

Police arrested a pair for an armed home invasion on Trescott Street not long after the two used their victim's ATM card to withdraw $200 from a nearby bank machine yesterday, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Quaknesha Garvin-Johnson, 22, and a 17-year-old, not named because of his age, were both ordered held in lieu of $100,000 bail at their arraignments in Dorchester Municipal Court this morning, the DA's office reports, adding it had only requested $50,000 bail for Garvin-Johnson. Read more.
