Fluff

Cindy Brady to bring Fluff-inspired art to Union Square

Susan Olsen, better known as the youngest one in curls, will headline the annual Fluff festival in Somerville's Union Square this September. Volunteers are needed to help out. Do you have what it takes?

The family that eats Fluff together turns into pirates together

Fluff pirates

Today was Union Square's annual Fluff Festival, this year celebrating Fluffy whoopie pies (but don't worry: Roving bands of entrepreneurs sold Fluffernutters).

No Fluff Festival would be complete without either the Flufferettes or a Pharaoh of Fluff:

Yo, what the Fluff?

Marshmallow Fluff is essentially candy that spreads like peanut butter. It's an American classic that was born in Somerville, but the new strawberry variety with its bright pink color is frightening. (read entire article by John Stephen Dwyer)

'The Fluffernutter is amazing'

New York transplant is won over to the Fluff side today:

... It reminded me for some reason of Nutella, which I also happened to coincidentally purchase today, in the sense that both the hazelnut spread and the peanut butter/Fluff combo are incredibly smooth, creamy and dreamy, and the marshmallowy vanillaness of the Fluff adds a deeper richness to the already-rich peanut butter.

To put it simply, it's damn good.

Fluffiest post of the year

Union Square in Somerville hosted its annual What the Fluff festival today in honor of Archibald Query's invention of peanut butter's BFF.

The gooey truth about the Fluffernutter bill

Aaron Cohen wrote every single state rep and senator to ask them how they'd vote on Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein's perpetual motion to annoint the Fluffernutter the Official Sandwich of the Commonwealth. He posts the replies he got, including one from a grumpy Sen. Richard Moore, D-Harrumph:

[W]hat do you think it is about the Fluffernutter that deserves the mantle of Official State Sandwich? If not, why?
I think we've got more pressing issues to consider.

How often do you enjoy Fluff, either on a sandwich or in a dessert?
Very rare.

Ever think bills in the legislature are full of fluff?

An Act designating the Fluffernutter as the official sandwich of the Commonwealth.

Sponsored by Rep. Kathi-Anne Reinstein of Revere, who has been trying to get this vital legislation enacted since 2006, when she got all up in then Sen. Jarrett Barrios's grill after he tried to ban Fluff from school menus.
