There's always that one guy

Mike Ogden reports he was by one of the shelters along Revere Beach yesterday evening when about 10 teens started fighting. State Police quickly arrived, but just as they were breaking up the brawl, this middle-aged guy decided to take on the staties. He lost.

Local and State Police are on high alert: They've gotten word that many Boston high-school students brought bathing suits with them to school and are planning to head for the beach. Revere hates Boston kids with the blinding passion of 10,000 suns, so of course they're already closing roads and bringing in extra officers and prisoner transport vans.

State Police investigate body found in the snow at Revere Beach

The Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports the body of an Asian male believed to be in his early 20s was found around 8:30 a.m. today, "partially buried in the snow," by the South Bath House. "There were no signs of blood or obvious foul play at the scene," the DA's office says, adding an autopsy will be performed tomorrow after the body has sufficiently warmed up.

Investigators have tentatively identified the man but are withholding his name until after notifying next of kin, the DA's office says.

All quiet at Revere Beach today

At least by the bandstand for the two hours I was there this afternoon. Yeah, reporting's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it; in this case, spending two hours on a beautiful day watching the water and bracing for all sorts of horrible trouble that never came when Boston high-school kids arrived for an annual skip day.

Maybe it had something to do with the state troopers and the K-9 unit stationed right across from the main exit of the Revere Beach T stop, or the knots of troopers strategically placed along the sidewalk by the beach, or the State Police helicopter that began flying slowly up and down the beach around 3 p.m. Or, where I was, the four plainclothes police officers just sitting there. Or maybe, just maybe, most Boston high-school kids are basically good kids who just wanted to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach.
