The owners of a marijuana shop proposed for Maverick Square decided not to risk going before a zoning board short one member today and requested and got a deferral until July 9, to make their case before a full, seven-member board. Read more.

A decision by the mayor's office to approve two marijuana shops less than a half mile apart - in potential violation of a city ordinance - sparked an unusually volatile Zoning Board of Appeal meeting today, during which the board chairman slammed his gavel to the table to restore order at one point, not long after he yelled at a city councilor that she was out of order. MG2, which has a number of East Boston projects under development, is proposing a six-story, 25-unit residential building on what is now a parking lot at Maverick Square and Sumner Street, across from the Blue Line station and bus stop. Read more.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Rogelio Alvarado, 23, of two counts of assault and battery by discharging a firearm and two gun charges for a 2016 attack at the Maverick T stop that sent two men to the hospital - only one of them the rival gang member he was aiming for - the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. People being evacuated from a Blue Line train in a tunnel

Tori reports she was on a Blue Line train when it suddenly lost power shortly after 8:20 a.m. between Aquarium and State. And then she and fellow passengers were evacuated from the train.

The T is blaming an unspecified "power problem." Boston firefighters are at Maverick station. Read more.

UPDATE: The line is moving again, with "only" 20-minute "residual" delays.

The T is reporting "delays of more than an hour" due to a busted train near Maverick that another train tried to push into the station, only according to one rider, that train broke, too.

An hour? Couldn't somebody walk the length of the line in less than that?

The Board of Appeals voted yesterday to let a developer proceed with plans to replace two bow-fronted buildings on Maverick Street with a new retail building, after determining a Landmarks Commission moratorium was based on a possibly flawed process. Read more.

The Boston Preservation Alliance reports the Boston Landmark Commission tonight ordered a developer to hold off on tearing down two adjacent townhouses on Maverick Street built in the 1870s, for at least two years. Read more.

Driving on the wrong side of the road on the North Shore of Long Island proved to be the undoing for an alleged MS-13 member charged with opening fire on a member of a rival gang on the Maverick Square Blue Line platform in a fusillade that also sent a second person to the hospital in January, 2016.
