Boston Police report they are looking for a guy who is robbing women coming out of the JFK/UMass, Savin Hill, Shawmut and Ashmont T stop between 7 and 10:30 p.m.
In some of the incidents, the suspect, described as a black male with a thin build, age 20-30, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and showed a handgun. The male suspect has engaged victims in a brief conversation before demanding money.
The state shut Morrissey Boulevard between UMass and Freeport Street around 11:15 a.m.
The Herald reports an explosion in the rat population on Savin Hill, possibly caused by construction along the Red Line.
Nhu Nguyen, 20, pleaded guilty today to killing Derek Matulina at the Savin Hill Red Line stop on May 11, 2011.
Under an agreement between his attorney and the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, Nguyen was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in a county jail on manslaughter and gun charges, to be followed by two years of probation.

A pier fire at the Dorchester Yacht Club off the Southeast Expressway erupted late this afternoon and went to two alarms because of the difficulty of fighting it, the Boston Fire Department reports.
Divers went into the water to try to fight the fire on the bottom side of the yacht club's pier from below. Firefighters briefly lost water from one hose when somebody drove over it. The department's marine unit had to wait in Dorchester Bay for about 15 minutes until a bridge tender arrived to get the Morrissey Boulevard drawbridge up to let it through.

AlertNewEngland reports Boston, Transit and State Police are flooding Savin Hill looking for two men who got into a fight with police, dropped a gun, then fled.

Nhu Nguyen and Derek Matulina were once friends who fell out over money Nguyen felt Matulina owed him for a drug transaction, Suffolk County prosecutors said today. When the two crossed paths at the Savin Hill T stop on May 7, they began to fight and Nguyen pulled out a gun and fatally shot Matulina, according to the District Attorney's office.
Nguyen was arraigned today in Suffolk Superior Court following his indictment for manslaughter and firearms charges. A judge ordered him held in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
Denis Popov reports his Savin Hill condo complex has had a series of break-ins over the past two months, in which somebody breaks in, then looks for a bag in which to carry out all the goodies he finds.

Andrew Higgins, 44, could get up to 20 years behind bars when sentenced in US District Court in October for robbing the Hyde Park Savings Bank branch on Centre Street last Nov. 13. He pleaded guilty yesterday, the FBI reports.
