Police ID club where Stephen Perez's killers may have chilled before the murder

Boston Police report the four men spotted running out of a parking garage around the time Stephen Perez was murdered may have been at a birthday party at Caprice/Underbar, 275 Tremont St. earlier in the evening.

Police are looking for the four men, possibly from Lynn, in connection with the death of Perez, an Army veteran, early on April 28. Police have asked anybody who may have taken video or photos around 2 a.m. in the area of Tremont and Stuart to contact them.

The Boston Business Journal reports on the proposed Tremont Crossing that would include apartments, retail and office space and a new museum for the National Center for Afro-American Artists.

Developer Elma Lewis Partners, LLC has long struggled to get the first shovel in the ground for a project on the land. At one point, the BRA revoked its development rights to the land, but gave it back after an outcry from Roxbury residents. The current proposal is in conjunction with Feldco Development.

The peeved citizen who repeatedly complained about the McDonald's delivery truck blocking West Street early every Friday sent a shoutout this morning to the BPD officer in cruiser 1145 who forced the driver to turn onto Tremont Street to keep West clear. Granted, he let the driver pull onto the one-way Tremont the wrong way, but baby steps, people.

"Thank you for making my morning commute a good one," enthused our citizen, no longer having to detour around the short street at 5:45 a.m.

To cap off major renovations, the Cathedral Church of St. Paul is getting a new design for its long vacant pediment: A nautilus shell, which will be lit at night.

The design, by Philadelphia artist Donald Lipski, is scheduled for completion by Oct. 7 - the 100th anniversary of the church's dedication as a cathedral (it opened as a church in 1818). A panel at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design selected Lipski's design:

The Diocese hoped to identify an artist capable of expressing the mission of the church and its contemporary role as a welcoming institution for all without relying on traditional iconography. "Lipski's beautiful and visionary proposal is utterly consistent with St. Paul's longstanding ministry to invite people into the mystery of Christ and echoes Jesus' invitation to followers to 'come and see,' " said The Very Reverend John P. Streit, Jr., Dean.

Student robbed, sliced with knife down street from Boston Police headquarters

A student was robbed of cash and then sliced in the hand around 9:10 p.m. at Ruggles and Tremont streets, the latest violent incident within a quick walk of the Boston Police headquarters building.

Police are looking for a black man with a goatee in a dark hoodie, who wielded the knife and who may also be packing a gun, and a black woman, also in a dark hoodie.

There was another two-on-one knifepoint robbery in the lower busway at the Ruggles T stop Sunday night.

UPDATE: The Fire Department reports investigators have determined the cause to be - you are sitting down: Careless disposal of a cigarette.

A fire in a 25th-floor apartment at Tremont on the Common, 151 Tremont St., sparked a three-alarm response as firefighters raced upstairs to evacuate residents, some of whom took refuge on their balconies.

The Boston Fire Department reports a fire in second-floor trash chute at 474 Tremont St. shortly before 7 p.m. went to two alarms before being extinguished. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The Boston Licensing Board yesterday approved a request from Sal's Pizza on Tremont Street to stay open until midnight.

Residents of a neighboring condo building objected to the extension from the current 10 p.m. closing time, claiming the new hours would attract the wrong element to the downtown street. The longer hours had the support of other downtown residents and neighboring businesses and institutions.

The Boston Licensing Board decides Thursday whether to grant a series of liquor license transfers that would begin with a bar in the Alley off Boylston Street giving up its liquor license and end with a new "eclectic" pub opening at the intersection of Tremont Street and Mass. Ave.

Under the deal, the Lyons Group would sell its all-alcohol license for Suite to the owners of the Parish Cafe II at Tremont and Mass. Ave., who in turn would sell their current beer, wine and liqueurs license to the operator of a new restaurant, called Poe's Pub, across the street.

UPDATE: Man arrested, but not for the shooting.

Boston Police tweet somebody was shot at 1029 Tremont St. shortly after 7 p.m. tonight, and that the homicide unit is now investigating, which means the victim was seriously wounded.

Beth Freeman reports she heard three shots. Police arrived "within seconds" and then chased a man down Sussex Street, she said.

Wanted for attempted murder on a bus right by Boston Police HQ

MBTA Transit Police say this is the guy who repeatedly stabbed somebody on a 23 bus at Ruggles and Tremont streets yesterday evening, then fled toward the Whittier Street project. He's described as 25 to 30, 5'7" and weighing between 185 and 220 lbs, with dreadlocks.

UPDATE: MBTA Transit Police tweet they've caught the guy.
