The week's Bochwhoring Index stands at 2.

Yesterday, of course, the Gals mentioned Boch Jr.'s celebrity roast and then, today, they used an on-air tiff between the roast host and some DJ we're relieved to see is still alive to play up the Norwood resident's name (in the headline, in a reference in the column, in an accompanying photo and, online, a clip from the roast - hmm, so should that make the Index a 6?).

Maybe I'm just bitter because I never have a clue who any of the unidentified rapscallions in columns like this are and am too lazy/uncurious to ever attempt to find out (let alone read the columns all the way to the end). But what's the point of running item after item without naming the offending parties save to blackmail their PR people into giving up juicy tidbits about other PR people's clients?

What do you call it when newspaper columnists use a blogger's photo without permission?

We hear from a reliable source that a couple of gossip gals at a certain scrappy tabloid got caught passing off a two-year-old photo of the Celtics dancers as their own when it was really taken by a local blogger - who was never asked if that was OK. File under: Tsk.

Dan Kennedy notes that the Herald's Inside Track recently slammed Boston Magazine ("the older and increasingly irrelevant Boston maggie") without disclosing that the Track Gals both write for Boston Magazine competitor Boston Common.

But never one to leave a simple scandal alone, Kennediy continues that Boston Magazine has its own disclosure issues: It recently ran a tough piece on the Track (summary: They're mean and play favorites and Boston's too boring to support fulltime gossip columnists) without disclosing the Boston Common connection, which might lead some readers to wonder whether BoMag is going after the Track to get back at its own competitor (which currently features an interview with Coco Crisp, who "has already won over Boston's baseball fans").

My disclosure's head is spinning; make it stop.
