Although in all fairness Southie does sound like a person and not a place.

The Times Food Section reports it's heard South Boston residents loud and clear and has updated the online version of its profile of Barbara Lynch to say she is "a fierce daughter of Southie" rather than "a fierce Southie." Read more.

The Oxford English Dictionary has added "Masshole" to its lexicon, WCVB reports:

The term was added to the dictionary as a noun and is considered vulgar slang that is "a contemptuous term for a native or inhabitant of the state of Massachusetts."
