The Boston Fire Department reports Boston and Cambridge firefighters converged on the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge around 7:30 a.m. on reports of a person in the water. John Duffill reports they found the person's body.

Walking and biking between the River St & BU Bridges can be greatly enhanced

The $1B reconstruction of the Mass Pike and Soldiers Field Road in Allston is also an opportunity to improve the cramped Charles River path between the River Street and BU Bridges. Chicago, Portland, Philadelphia, New York are some of the many cities improving paths and public spaces along their urban rivers and this project is an opportunity to follow suit in Boston. Locally, Kendall Square's Broad Canal boardwalk in the Charles River boardwalk provides a recent precedent. Read more.

Yeah, yeah, but the state really means it this time: The Charles River Basin is full of toxic cyanobacteria, which could make you feel pretty bad - and kill your dog, so be especially careful to keep Fido away from the water.

The state warning went into effect Tuesday.
