It is the winter of ‘69 in Boston and Eddie Coyle is a bottom of the barrel hood attempting to stay alive and out of jail among his “friends” – cops, bartenders, radical hippies, bank robbers, hit men and informants. Weeks away from a prison sentence for trucking stolen booze, Eddie’s making a few bucks supplying the guns for a rash of brazen bank heists, while looking to tip someone in for a kind word to the judge.

George V. Higgins’ classic novel has been called the “best crime novel ever written” by Elmore Leonard, and literary scholars have compared his unforgiving and realistic depiction of Boston’s underworld with the works of Dickens, Dostoevsky, and Balzac. Through dialogue quintessentially Bostonian, and the most poignant homage to Bobby Orr and the ’69-’70 Boston Bruins in literature, The Friends of Eddie Coyle has set the bar for Boston crime stories for nearly 40 years.

West Roxbury sex offender convicted for possession of child porn

A convicted sex offender was sentenced to ten years in federal prison on a child-pornography charge last week, after admitting ownership of the files an FBI agent found on his computer via a file-sharing network.

William F. Murphy, a resident of Boston's only trailer park, initially told investigators he was only doing research to determine whether his girlfriend, with whom he was living, had been forced as a child to engage in sexual acts by a child-porn ring he wanted to expose, according to an affidavit by an FBI agent who investigated his case. He claimed he had tried to present the evidence to Boston Police, but that they had turned him away because of his status as a sex offender - he was convicted in 1988 of raping his 9-year-old stepdaughter.

Grab and run at the Natick Mall

Natick Police report a grab-and-run robbery at the Natick Collection on Monday.

At around 7 p.m., police say, two men entered the Gucci store there and began to collect purses before quickly running out. Police say they got away with only nine purses, but they were worth a total of $9,500.

Recent months have seen a spate of similar robberies at high-end stores apparel and accessories stores in the Back Bay.

Boston Police report a limo driver who'd just pulled up to Blessed Mother Teresa Church Saturday afternoon with members of a bridal party in back was punched and pushed out of the vehicle by a guy who had apparently just broken into a nearby house:

Darrin Howell from Chuck Turner's office released a 20 Year study of Homicides in Boston. The study found that in over half of the murders in the last 10 years there were no arrests.

Fratboy Graham gets pinched for moving violation and ...

Every since Michael "Fratboy" Graham got his first fake ID, he's has trouble remembering his birth date. (h/t Swrlygrrl)

It's usually not a problem but "Fratboy" recently got pinched by Framingham Police for a "minor" moving violation according to Graham and here's where the story starts to get murky. Graham claims,

"I was pulled over for a minor traffic infraction, and was astonished when the officer informed me that the RMV had revoked my drivers license. I don’t know when and I don’t know why"

Massachusetts is the only state in the region–and perhaps in the nation–that refuses to give a heads up to taxpayers that their licenses are about to expire. And, apparently, they don’t bother to inform us when they revoke our driving privileges–or why.

So is "Fratboy" claiming that not renewing your license (by the expiration date listed on your license that coincides with your birthday) is the same thing as a revocation by the RMV (which it isn't)

His ex-wife Sandra Boss is suing Clark for $80000, her cost recovering her kidnapped daughter. She knows he owns gold coins worth that and has asked for them.
Clark received a subpoena from the LA County Sheriff who wants to see his and Sandra's sealed divorce case file. They’re investigating Clark’s involvement, if any, in the possible slaying of John and Linda Sohus.
