Matt Frank took in the Revere Sand Castle Festival tonight, which included a performance by Blue Man Group in front of an angry King Kong made of sand.

The state and Berklee College of Music say they free musical performances outside the Aquarium and Wonderland stops twice a week will help take commuters' minds off what are now regular delays due to wire inspections on top of the delays caused by all the slow zones and all the crowding caused by people who normally drive but who have to deal with the Sumner Tunnel shutdown. Or maybe they're making a statement, that East Boston is really Boston's Revere Beach? But if so, maybe Sullivan's could start advertising itself as being from Revere's Castle Island?

Your money's no good on the Blue Line, at least through Aug. 31.
With the Sumner Tunnel now shut for the next two months, the Blue Line is now free, as Donna shows us at Orient Heights. Kind of makes you wonder if freeing the T might be a way for the state to reduce congestion and carbon emissions on Boston-area roads, although that would probably require a fully functional T system.

NBC Boston reports firefighters in Revere had to deal with a sodden pile of soggy rolls of toilet paper following a crash involving a truck hauling porta-potties.

The evening along Revere Beach ended in chaos. Steve Cooper reports two people were shot, one near Shirley Avenue, the other near BK's Bar and Grill, as Revere and State Police try to clear hundreds of people from along the beach. Boston officers, including those in specialized gun cars and dressed in riot gear responded, with a staging area set up at Suffolk Downs. Acting Mayor Patrick Keefe is on the way.

The Blue Line is even more of a mess than usual today, as in, the T is running shuttle buses between Orient Heights and Wonderland and telling people who can to take the ferry, because of some sort of wire ish at Revere Beach.

The owner of a Quality Inn on the Revere/Saugus line is suing the Boston Public Health Commission for the money it says it's owed for holding all of its rooms for three months in 2021 for Mass and Cass denizens who Boston never actually sent there once Revere and Saugus officials erupted in anger on learning of the plan. Felix Arroyo opened up a vacancy as Suffolk County Register of Probate when he retired earlier this month. The first person to officially signal he's running for the office, by registering a campaign with the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance, is Vincent Procopio of Saugus.
Saugus is not in Suffolk County, but unlike candidates for district attorney or register of deeds, registers of probate don't have to live in the county they want to serve. The job entails overseeing a state-funded office for handling wills and the like. It pays $174,000 a year.

A judge yesterday sentenced Elias Pacheco-Osario, 29, to two years of probation after he admitted to leaving his pet, Killer, to drown in 2021 rather than bring the dog to a shelter when he could no longer care for it, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.
