Do we need a New England Huffington Post?

Mass. Marrier attended that Chris Lydon/New England Common session. He says he's of mixed feelings on the idea, those mixed feelings being that Lydon is smart but also too smug and way too vague about what he wants to do:

... I don't have a lot of faith that Lydon can do this. I certainly don't believe that Boston and Cambridge are uniquely prepared to provide the right content. However, I think we have sufficient stuff here to expand a BlueMassGroup to do this more and better. We can thanks Lydon for acting as catalyst, and maybe we could put up a brass plaque.

If he builds it, would they come?

David at Blue Mass. Group attended Christopher Lydon's New England Common/blog session yesterday, in which Lydon proposed what sounds a bit like a New England version of Huffington Post:

... I think he is perhaps looking for higher-brow stuff than we serve up [at Blue Mass. Group], perhaps authored by folks with actual qualifications. He's also looking for topics beyond politics - he wants the best of New England's culture, sports, science, and philosophy, as well as politics, all under one "Common" cyber-roof. ...

...starting May 30 at 7:00 PM...
