Bicyclist knocked unconscious in collision with car in Jackson Square

Boston Police report a bicyclist is expected to survive a midnight crash at Centre and Lamartine streets:

Officers spoke to the motorist who stated that he never saw the man on the bike. According to the motorist, he was attempting to make a turn onto Lamartine when he felt and heard something strike the passenger side of his car. Officers observed and did take note of damage to the motorist’s passenger side door and window. After being struck, the motorist states that he stopped his car and pulled over to see what had happened. Upon exiting his car, the motorist stated that he observed an individual lying on the ground unconscious with a bicycle lying in close proximity.

Ed. note: Chanel 7, which had the first report up on the incident, said the bicyclist had died.

City development committee in JP rules reporters are not citizens

The Jackson Square Citizens Advisory Committee, which is supposed to give the BRA citizen input on development in the area, decided last week to ban the press from all its meetings, the JP Gazette reported.

The BRA says it would prefer the meetings be open but that it has no control over the committee.

Guy standing in the middle of Jamaica Plain street run down; driver flees

Boston Police report they are looking for a maroon Camry with a missing driver's side mirror whose driver fled after running down a guy standing in the middle of Centre Street in Jackson Square around 8:30 last night:

Officers learned that one car apparently swerved around the victim while he was in the street when the suspect motor vehicle hit the victim flipping him over the hood and causing him to strike the bumper of a car that was traveling behind the suspect motor vehicle. The suspect motor vehicle then fled the scene heading down Centre St. and making a left turn on Columbus Avenue.

The victim is not in good shape, police say.

Three boys shot in Roxbury; their shooter may have been shot as well

UPDATE: Alleged shooter from Bromley-Heath arrested.

The Herald reports the boys, aged 10-12, were playing in a parking lot at the Academy Homes project around 8:15 last night by a sniper who sprayed them with bullets. Not long after, a man was shot as he ran away from the scene. All are expected to survive.

Boston Police report:

At around the same time, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 225 Centre Street. On arrival, officers located a 19 year-old black male suffering from a gunshot wound to the foot. According to the victim, he was walking down the street when he heard what sounded like a gunshot. The victim says he then felt pain in his ankle and, at that time, realized he was shot. While talking to the victim, officers discovered that the individual was in possession of an undisclosed amount of marijuana. As a result, officers charged the victim with Possession of a Class D Drug. Officers are also considering this individual a potential suspect in connection with the shooting incident at 68 Academy Terrace.

Police: Photo taker arrested in the North End

A Canton man who claimed he was trying to "protect the North End" was arrested early this morning when he started taking photos of a woman sitting in car and then proceeded to start cursing her out, Boston Police report.

Police say the woman was double parked outside 266 Commercial St. around 2:43 a.m. waiting for AAA when the man came up to her and started snapping away. She yelled at him, which only made him start taking photos of her license plate, police say:

At this point, the suspect began swearing at the victim. When a bystander intervened, the suspect yelled, "I'm trying to protect the North End."

John McGinnis, 44, of Canton, was arrested on a charge of disturbing the peace.
