Suzanne Smalley

Hey, whatever happened to Boston's anonymous police texting system?

On Monday, before we knew what really happened to Laquarrie Jefferson, Globe crime reporter Suzanne Smalley ended her story on the case with phone numbers for contacting the police with tips.

Vox is annoyed that Smalley didn't also include information about the city's new anonymous texting system - since she was the one who first wrote about it:

... I guess what really annoys me is that Ms. Smalley would write an article about a crime two weeks after covering the text messeging program, and then not even mention the text messaging program in the article when saying the various ways in which someone can provide a lead.

I'm not sure who I feel worse for: The city of Boston for having such an un-publicised good idea or Ms. Smalley for showing how much she doesn't think of the stories she writes. ...

For the record, if you have an anonymous tip for Boston Police, you can text TIP to CRIME.
