Boston Police report officers who pulled four teens out of a car on Mass. Ave. in Newmarket Square early this morning because a license check showed it to be stolen added gun and drug charges after finding a loaded gun and "a large plastic bag" filled with smaller bags of crack. Read more.

Around 9:30 p.m., an Orange Line train pulled out of Ruggles on its way downtown. Only a rider, for whatever reasons, had her arm partially stuck outside one set of doors as the train began to move. When the driver didn't seem to respond to the intercom, a rider pulled the emergency brake. Read more.

Instead of a view of sky and the turnpike, people on Newbury Street could see this.

A developer's proposal to bridge the turnpike along the more barren side of Mass. Ave. between Newbury and Boylston streets could mean several dramatic changes to the block beyond just towers covering what is now an open-air highway. Read more.

Transit Police report arresting a man they say an MBTA worker and a security camera both captured kicking in a window at the Mass. Ave. Orange Line stop for what police say was "no apparent reason."

Nicholas Sullivan, 25, was nabbed after the act around 1:25 a.m. on Wednesday, police say.

Cambridge Police report an armored-car driver from New Bedford not only refused to move his wide vehicle out of a Mass. Ave. bike lane yesterday, he gave an officer some lip about it: He was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, blocking a bicycle lane and refusing to produce his license and registration.

Old Roxbury gasholder

Abandoned gasholder in 1968.

At the intersection of Southampton Street and Massachusetts Avenue are two unusual round buildings. The smaller is the New Market Pizza and Grill, which is perhaps the most ornate pizza place in the city. And the other is a solid six-story brick hotel, formerly the Roundhouse Suites, now the Best Western Plus Boston Hotel. Read more.

Cambridge officials announced today the city has hired Roderick Ireland, retired chief justice of the state Supreme Judicial Court, to conduct an independent review of how Cambridge police officers arrested a 21-year-old Harvard student standing naked on a Massachusetts Avenue traffic island on April 13.
