Franklin and Needham Line service was shut for about 20 minutes as Boston Police pursued a burglary suspect who kept running across the train tracks south of Canterbury Street around 3 p.m. Officers swarmed both sides of the tracks for the suspect, who eventually tried to make good his escape through wooded yards on the Roslindale side - only to be caught by Transit Police officers who had arrived to help out.

Ernest Haley, 29, won't have to risk getting arrested a third time for burglary: At his arraignment today for three Roslindale break-in attempts - two allegedly successful - his bail was revoked for his earlier charge, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The new arrests - which include one for allegedly swiping nine pairs of panties - also got him in trouble for violating his probation in a 2014 case in which he received an 18-month suspended sentence for malicious destruction of property, threats, and two counts of assault and battery, the DA's office says. Old Christos market in Roslindale

Old Greek market new coffee shop in Roslindale?

Roslindale looks set to rejoin cafe nation with the potential opening of two coffee shops, one right in Roslindale Square, the other a couple blocks away.

In the Keep Roslindale Quirky Facebook group, Lauren Cooperstein Corduck reports that PS Gourmet Coffee, which has outlets in South Boston and Dorchester, will be moving into the former Vouros pastry shop at Washington and Poplar streets: Read more.

Mural on Archdale in Roslindale

The Mayor's Mural Crew is nearly done with the mural on Archdale Road at Washington that illustrates a Dominican saying about how much a bird in the hand is worth - and has begun work on another mural a block away on the side of the Little People's Playhouse on Washington: Read more.

High-school students working on new mural in Roslindale

Boston high-school students working for the Mayor's Mural Crew were on Archdale Road at Washington Street today, painting a new mural on the side of the Liriano Brothers' Market - when not taking breaks from the oppressive heat and humidity.

Grace Styklunas of Roslindale, the team leader, said they're painting a mural version of the Dominican version of the bird-in-the-hand saying - the store owners are Dominican. Read more.

Birds in a Roslindale oil-change place

For the past seven years, Peter's Auto Service on Washington Street in Roslindale Square has had some cages for a parrot and lots of chirping yellow birds.

New mural in Roslindale

For years, the Archdale Road side of the Lirianos Brothers' Market on Washington Street has been covered with a mural showing a woman with a green hand cooking something in a frying pan with lots of ingredients, including a can of unidentified Goya stuff.

This morning, the wall was covered with a fresh coat of white paint and a group of earnest young folks were busy outlining a new mural. Time will tell what they're painting.

Around 10:30 a.m in an apartment at 50 Brookway Rd. in the Archdale project. Fox Boston reports. Boston Police report the man was in his mid-20s.

This is the first Archdale murder since 2013.

Crash in Roslindale

Sito Suvamente captured the scene on Washington Street midway between Roslindale Square and the West Roxbury Parkway around 5:30 p.m., when the thoroughfare was completely shut down.

The Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing on Monday considers a request from Delicias Dominicanas, 635 Hyde Park Avenue, to add entertainment to its food offerings.

The restaurant is seeking an entertainment license that would let it host live music, karaoke, dancing and a floor show that would include a comedian.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m. in the office's eighth-floor hearing room in City Hall.

Stanley Staco reports somebody was robbed at knifepoint around 10:30 a.m. on Clare Avenue. Police are looking for two black males, in their late 20s or early 30s, who fled in a car.

When we asked our daughter what she wanted for her birthday this year, she had just one specific thing in mind: A tub of ice cream from Puritan Ice Cream on Washington Street in Roslindale, up by Forest Hills. The idea of having an ice-cream factory in her neighborhood has long fascinated her. And knowing their smallest size is three gallons made a Puritan tub seem, well even more special. Read more.

Organizers of the Jamaica Plain Porchfest on July 11 say more than 100 bands will perform on porches and in yards across the neighborhood, between noon and 6 p.m. In addition to musicians, spaces will be set aside for storytelling, dramatic readings and circus performers - including unicyclists.

Meanwhile, the Roslindale Arts Alliance is putting together the first Roslindale Porch Fest, on Sept. 12.
