Suspects in Brookline bookshop holdup arrested in Jamaica Plain

Brookline Police report that Horai-San Book and Crystal Shop, 242 Washington St. in Brookline Village, was held up around 6:42 p.m. on Friday.

Saturday morning, Brookline Police raided 21 Child St. in Jamaica Plain, arresting two men on armed-robbery charges. Police blame the pair, who they say were shacking up there temporarily, for at least one other armed holdup in Brookline and say they were likely planning more holdups to support an addiction to crack. Police said one of the men was from Fall River, while they described the other only as "homeless."

A diner at the Village Fair restaurant on Washington Street told police last Thursday that somebody made off with his dog:

The dog was last seen by witnesses in the possession of four teenage Hispanic males, the dog is described as a 3 year old female pit-bull mix black with white markings.

Doesn't handle disappointment well

Brookline Police report that when a man exiting the Brookline Village Starbucks Wednesday morning declined to give a panhandler money:

[T]he suspect kicked over a newspaper stand which subsequently fell and struck the victims vehicle.

The panhandler was subsequently arrested.

They also report on a traffic incident at Parkman and St. Paul streets:

Victim reports that while she was taking a left turn a man crossing the street deliberately and repeatedly smashed his briefcase against the hood of her car damaging it. The suspect is described as an older man around 65 years of age, 6'2, wearing glasses and a gray suit.

Somehow, I'm betting that if they find that man, he's going to have a dramatically different version of the story.

D Line reopening ahead of schedule

This Saturday as opposed to Monday, per The Boston Globe.

This will certainly ease the coming weekend of hell brought about by several Red Sox games, college move-ins and Labor Day tourist traffic.

Trains will be able to run faster, and the handicapped-accessible Breda trolleys should theoretically be able to traverse the line at full speed without derailing now that the track renovations are complete. The T expects the latter to enter service on the D Line by the end of the year.

The news isn't all good however. Renovation projects at Longwood and Brookline Village stations will not be finished until next Spring.
