Smoke gets in his eyes

The Huntington News reports a Northeastern student tried the old trick of stuffing a towel under her door and using a window fan to keep people in her dorm from knowing she was smoking pot. Unfortunately for her, it was 10:15 a.m. and a passing Northeastern police officer noticed the smoke coming out of her window and went to investigate. Now she has to answer to the college disciplinary office.

Lincoln man sought for armed holdup at Northeastern

Boston Police today charged Akil Washington, 24, of Lincoln, with a late-Wednesday holdup at a Northeastern dorm that ended in a SWAT sweep of a Wentworth building - and Washington's escape.

Police say anybody who knows Washington's whereabout should contact the Northeastern Police Department at 617-373-2121. People can also call Boston's anonymous tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS or by texting TIP to CRIME (27463).

Boston Police say they believe Washington was on campus to sell drugs to somebody in Burstein Hall on the Northeastern campus, 458 Huntington Ave. But, police say, Washington pulled a gun and demanded the other guy's laptop - and then fled. Northeastern police almost had him in a sting soon after, but he sensed they were cops and fled again, this time into a Wentworth administration building.

Zombie hunting banned at Northeastern

The Huntington News reports that when Northeastern police responded to a report of several people running around campus chasing other people with guns, they found six students with a plastic toy shotgun and Nerf guns playing Humans versus Zombies:

The plastic shotgun was confiscated and the six students were counseled on the dangers of playing such a game in an urban setting.

In other Northeastern gun news, the News reports a student who liked shooting birds on campus with his two BB guns was reported to school authorities. The bongs and marijuana grinder police also found in his room didn't help his case.

Police sweep Wentworth building in search of armed robber

Channel 25 reports he's wanted for holding up a Northeastern student inside a Northeastern dorm after midnight; they found the student's laptop outside a Wentworth administrative building. Channel 7 reports he wasn't in the building.

Police interrupt good time near Northeastern

Boston Police report officers flagged down by a neighbor around 2 a.m. on Sunday issued an immediate last call for some hardy partiers at 220 Hemenway St.

Assisted by Northeatern Police, Boston officers arrested the three leaseholders on charges of being keepers of a disorderly house and procuring alcohol for minors - no alleged mean feat, given the three are all 19. Officers found "numerous bottles of alcohol throughout the residence," along with 50 to 60 mostly pre-21 partiers, police say. Police also had to call for an ambulance to cart away a dude who was passed out and unresponsive in one bedroom.

WBZ traffic reports that a partial building collapse at 337 Huntington Ave. in Boston has closed the road and the Green line E trains near the Northeastern T-Stop.

A map of Northeastern University lists the building as a residence hall.

Channel 5 reports roofers were working on the building when part of the front collapsed.
