The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports on the proposal for a portion of the FIrst Church cemetery - with caveats that the run would be limited to a group of local dog owners, that they would have to agree to rules and limit the number of dogs at one time, and that the run would be at least 10 feet away from the nearest tombstones and bones. The benefit for the church would be more eyes on its property, possibly reducing the odds of littering and vandalism.
The fatal trunk split on a prominent, unusually shaped tree on the parkway side of Jamaica Pond continues to spread, but the tree is trying so hard to hold on - its branches, seemingly rising from the pond itself, are now sprouting in green.

Boston Police report Charles Wilkerson Jr., 27, of Norwood, turned himself in last night after learning he was wanted for stabbing a shuttle-bus driver in the leg on Washington Street near Forest Hills earlier in the day. Read more.
