State transportation officials said tonight they will shut the Arboretum-bound side of the Casey Overpass in February, followed by the Mattapan-bound side by the end of March.

The Mt. Washington Bank branch on Centre Street was held up again, around 4:30 p.m. Police are looking for a Hispanic man, 5'9" or 5'10" with a stocky build, wearing a black hoodie under a brown jacket.

Shamus Moynihan was right there:

Dye pack exploded. Pink smoke everywhere. Suspect on foot up Robinwood.

Police say he jumped into a mid-90s, gray Civic hatchback on Robinwood, then drove away.

This branch was last held up in October.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that Edward Corliss of Roslindale, who has a criminal record dating to 1962, got a fair trial for the 2009 shooting death of Surendra Dangol and that it saw no reason to overturn his first-degree murder conviction.

With contractors now getting ready to begin tearing down the Casey Overpass, MassDOT will hold its first construction-update meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the Boston English auditorium, 144 McBride St. in Jamaica Plain.

Boston Police report on an incident around 9:30 a.m.:

A female victim called police to report that, while running in the vicinity of the Jamaica Pond boathouse, an individual riding a bicycle approached her from behind and slapped her in the buttock region. Victim states she screamed and the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim describes the suspect as either a black or Hispanic male in his early twenties, 6'0" in height, medium build, wearing a white ball cap with red trim (possibly a Chicago Bulls cap), a dark sweatshirt, dark pants and white sneakers.

Last fall saw several armed robberies or robbery attempts around the pond.

Boston.com reports City Feed and Supply on Boylston Street was held up this afternoon by a white guy in glasses with a gun.

This is the fourth such armed robbery in Jamaica Plain this month by a white guy in glasses with a gun.

3385 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain

The BRA yesterday gave Boston Property Development permission to tear down the old fried-chicken place at 3385 Washington St. and replace it with a four-story building with 21 residential units and ground-floor commercial space.

The $3.5-million project will include four "affordable" units. One of the units will have three-bedrooms; the rest one or two. The developer plans 23 parking spaces for the building, which it says will "contribute to the much needed revitalization of Washington Street."

The Harvest Co-op board says declining sales gave it little choice but to shut its South Street location on April 30.

In a report on its decision, the board says sales started going down even before Whole Foods opened on Centre Street and that its South Street landlord did not accede to "dramatically lowering the rent and reducing the term of the lease" to help the co-op make up the 32% drop in sales since 2009.

Jamaica Plain News reports the MetroPCS on Centre Street was held up at gunpoint on Sunday.

The suspect was described as a white guy in sunglasses - as was the suspect in robberies of JP Auto Services on Centre Street on Jan. 3 and JP Variety Store on South Street on Jan. 6.

On Boston Reddit, jamesishere recounts an encounter with a Spark Energy salesman who showed up during the Pats game last night, demanded to see his electric bill and then wouldn't leave even after he dialed 911:

I figured he was going to run at this point, but he says he will wait for the police. So I make him wait out on the porch, and I think he was about to walk away, but 6 cruisers seem to appear out of nowhere in 45 seconds (pretty amazing response time, though I do live quite close to the police station).

Starbucks papers all over the Arboretum

A concerned citizen notes the presence of a broken-open safe and what are apparently Starbucks documents strewn about the Arboretum near South and Bussey streets.

Clayton Harper has been taking a detailed look at what happens when the Casey Overpass comes down to make way for surface roads. Forest Hills station will be getting a lot of changes as part of the project - many related to the busways.

Car in front of a hydrant in Jamaica Plain

Ted Hanno spotted this miscreant this morning on Chestnut Avenue near Forbes in Jamaica Plain. He reports the note on the windshield is a request not to park in front of this thing that we Bostonians call "a hydrant."

The owner is lucky firefighters didn't need access to the hydrant.

Around 2:40 p.m., a white man with a small black gun held up the JP Variety Store, 162 South St. He took about a dozen packs of cigarettes, which he stuffed in a white plastic bag, and headed to the Southwest Corridor.

He was 5'11" or 6' and appeared to be in his early to mid 30s. He had brown hair and eyes, a bit of facial hair and wore a black, white and gray winter jacket.

On Saturday, JP Auto Services on Centre Street was held up at gunpoint.

Shortly before 7 p.m., JP Auto Services, 429 Centre St., was held up by a white man, in his 20s, 5'10" to 6' and with light-brown hair. He wore dark sunglasses, a silver cloth jacket and jeans, and was last seen running up Barbara towards South Huntington.

WBZ reports police are investigating how two people wound up dead in Forest Hills Cemetery this morning. Boston EMS Incidents reports they were found outside a car "reportedly turning blue."
