Boston firefighters responded to 975 Dorchester Ave., near Howes Street, for a third-floor house fire around 12:40 p.m.

The Boston Fire Department reports eight people were displaced, but that there were no injuries.

The Boston Fire Department reports a crane truck tipped over on Dorchester Avenue at East Cottage Street in Dorchester this morning. No injuries at the site, where a five-story, 38-unit residential building with room for a new Dorchester Market is going up.

A Dorchester man told by police to leave the Little Saigon Cultural District's Night Market on Dorchester Avenue Saturday night for being drunk returned an hour later and grabbed a child by the shoulders and kissed the little kid, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.

Mayor Wu today announced plans to turn Dartmouth Street in front of the Copley library into a pedestrian area between June 7 and June 17th - in a pilot that could lead to the block being shut to traffic permanently - and to re-create the Newbury Street open-streets pedestrian program on long stretches of Centre Street in Jamaica Plain one day in July, Blue Hill Avenue in Grove Hall in August and Dorchester Avenue in September. A man tried to hold up Savin Hill Wine and Spirits, 1051 Dorchester Ave. around 9:30 p.m., with a sawed-off shotgun, but instead got into a fight with store workers, who got the weapon away from him and beat him with it. Suspect is described as white, in a bright red hoodie under a black jacket, with black jeans and sneakers, and 5'4".

A man who worked as a delivery driver for Pat's Pizza, 2254 Dorchester Ave. for 18 months yesterday filed suit, alleging the restaurant failed to reimburse him for all the mileage he put on his car, paid him less than the state minimum for overtime and kept all the "delivery charges" that customers might have thought were meant as tips.
