The Boston Fire Department reports firefighters responded to 1631 Dorchester Ave. for what turned into a two-alarm fire around 12:30 a.m.

The department reports no injuries; says 14 people were displaced.

The Dorchester Reporter talks to two brothers, who, along with a third man, managed to get an unconscious man out of his car just before the whole thing went up in flames this past Friday.

I saw the whole engine block engulfed in flames. I ran across the street and Mike was right behind me. I told him to be careful because I thought the car might explode.

Fire at 1875 Dorchester Ave.

Boston firefighters responded around 4:40 p.m. to the BHA's six-story Peabody/Englewood building, 1875 Dorchester Ave., for a two-alarm fire that started when a car in the residential building's garage burst into flames. One resident was injured. Read more.

Core Investments today filed plans for a four-building complex along Dorchester Avenue at Alger Street that will include life-sciences labs, offices, retail space and 196 residential units - on a nine-acre site where the company originally planned to put a large Amazon warehouse that the BPDA rejected as not in keeping with the residential/office future it has planned for that stretch. Live Boston reports a woman was stabbed outside 1261 Dorchester Ave. around 9:30 p.m. on Monday. The woman was taken to a local hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries. The child was uninjured.

Princewill Daniels, 39, of Framingham, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The Boston Licensing Department rummages around tomorrow to see if it has any liquor licenses it can grant to Sugar Bowl Cafe, 857 Dorchester Ave., which says that if it gets one, it will re-open at night and give locals a place to go to relax rather than having to jump in a cab to get to South Boston or Lower Mills. Boston Police report the arrest of Shawn Murphy, 49, of Brockton, for a shooting on Dorchester Avenue, across from the Ashmont T station, that sent another man to the hospital around 9:30 p.m. on March 4.

Police say the BPD fugitive unit, US marshals and Brockton Police arrested Murphy in Brockton around 5:45 a.m. today.

National Development of Newton yesterday told the BPDA it plans to file plans soon to replace a series of warehouses between F.W. Webb and Benjamin Moore on Dorchester Avenue, near Old Colony Avenue, with a four-building development - two buildings with 345 residential units and two buildings with 674,500 square feet of commercial space. Around 9:30 p.m. on Dorchester Avenue near Ashmont Street. The homicide unit was called in just in case, due to the severity of the victim's injuries. Read more.
