The Boston Business Journal reports on the government's efforts to unload Graves Light, which has five stories, two bedrooms, a kitchen and a study on a ten-acre island nine miles offshore from downtown. The government will try to find a non-profit organization that wants a remote island, but if nobody bites, will put it up for auction - on the condition the buyer maintain the lighthouse.

Layoffs are involved. The new pub will be called the Phoenix, rather than the Boston Stuff or Stuffnix. Key question: Will they still run those "adult services" ads?

Adam had a post regarding the Boston neighborhood markers (http://www.universalhub.com/2012/what-happened-mar...) and I had mentioned about the old street signs that still exist in Boston, such as the one on the corner of Temple and Baker Street that still exists.

Over the past few months, however, I have been using Google Maps and Bing Maps to find pictures of the signs that still exist. They are divided into sections; simply click a point on the map, and select Street View to see the image.

At-large Councilors Ayanna Pressley and Felix Arroyo say that rather than just let old payphones collect trash and rust, the city should use them to set up free wireless zones.

The councilors say Boston could use more places where people could get online for free:

There is a digital divide between different demographics and socioeconomic levels and such a program would expand access to the internet for more Boston residents.

The two will ask the full council tomorrow to approve a hearing on whether Boston could follow New York with a pilot of free, anonymous WiFi.

The Supreme Judicial Court ruled today that if Go-Best Assets Ltd. wants the $5 million disgraced lawyer Morris Goldings stole from it, it's going to have to go after him, rather than the bank from which he drained the money.

In its ruling, the state's highest court said Go-Best failed to prove Citizens Bank not only knew Goldings was pulling off fraud when he had the company transfer the money from its own account to an account controlled by Goldings but that it helped him commit it.
