Until the roof caves in from the weight of all the snow and the power goes out, of course we're going to be watching the non-stop blizzard coverage on local channels tomorrow. To keep from getting bored, let's come up with rules for the drinking game. Here's a start at some rules; what are yours?

Whenever somebody mentions the Blizzard of '78, take a drink. When Harv mentions it, take two - he's the only one who got it right, remember?

A reporter makes a snowball. Take a drink. Follow with a quick shot if he/she throws it at the cameraperson.

A reporter sticks a ruler in the snow. Take a drink.

UPDATE: It appears to be working again; now to figure out why the vote box jumps from the right to the left when you vote ...

If you vote on a plus sign next to somebody's comment, your vote won't register. Looking into it; my apologies in the meantime.

WGBH says its hiring the former WTKK talkers to talk away between noon and and 2 p.m. on weekdays on its "Boston Public Radio" show. The move frees up Callie Crossley and Emily Rooney, who currently hold down the microphones then, to do other things, although the station says they'll continue to get some words in edgewise on the show. 'GBH adds that Edgar B. Herwick III will continue to contribute to the show after the changeover on Feb. 25.

Giant bugs, arrrrgh!

The MBTA's starting a new ad campaign to try to get people to be less litterbuggy, less crabby to T workers, less piggy with seats and less elephanty in terms of spraying mucus on fellow passengers. See 'em all by downloading the attached file, and ponder the real reason Charlie never returned - he was eaten by giant cockroaches.

This is the first time the campaign has used such a light, humor-based tone to get these important messages across. Using the voice of various animals related to the reminder they're trying to make is done in order to make riders smile while reinforcing public transit etiquette.

"Riding the T every day, I know how important it is to be respectful and kind to fellow passengers as well as operators," said MBTA General Manager Dr. Beverly Scott. "Sometimes we need to be reminded of the basics and hopefully it will make everyone's commute a more pleasant one."

All of Boston's minority legislators and city councilors today asked a committee looking at ways to change the way students are assigned to public schools to hold off a planned vote next week on a recommended method.

The letter, delivered today to the External Advisory Committee, comes on the eve of what is supposed to be a last chance for parents to hear the latest proposals - one in which the city would be split into ten assignment zones and two with no zones but at least two possible schools with good test scores.

David Lavitman, a Milton driver who signed up for Uber, has sued the car service, claiming its illegally keeping half drivers' tips.

Lavitman filed his suit in state court in December, but Uber had it moved to federal court this month.

Lavitman alleges the company collected a 20% gratuity fee on all rides, but only gave half that to drivers.

Uber tells the Boston Business Journal drivers keep all the gratuities, but that it does take a percentage of the meter fee plus $1 per trip.

Paul Levy considers the weekend bus crash and recounts how the state solved the problem 30 years ago - by hanging cowbells from the warning signs at the entrances to Storrow Driver and Soldiers Field Road, after then MDC Commissioner Bill Geary told his underlings to call a cow farmer to ask where they got their bells:

The frequency of crashes in the underpasses went from one per week to less than one per year. ...
