NBC Boston reports Boston firefighters who responded to what turned into a two-alarm fire at 35 West Walnut Park around 8 a.m. had problems due to the amount of material piled up in the house.

Spare Change News reports the BPDA yesterday approved new development guidelines for the Washington Street corridor that call for 40% of new residential units to be affordable. Family and friends are identifying the man shot to death on Cleaves Court Saturday night as Carlos Lind, 19, a student at the Greater Egleston High School just a few blocks away.

He leaves his mother, Yoselin, and a younger brother and sister. Read more.

A man shot twice outside 5 Cleaves Ct., off Columbus between Washington and Seaver around 10:55 p.m. was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A bullet fired into an apartment air conditioner a few blocks away on Abbotsford Street might be related.

Around 10:45 p.m. on Dixwell Street. EMTs found him on Columbus Avenue, although he may have been shot closer to School Street. A window in a house on Dixwell midway between School and Columbus was shot out.

The Boston Fire Department reports a three-alarm fire early this morning did an estimated $300,000 in damage to 69 Walnut Park.

The cause and origin of the fire, reported around 1:30 a.m., are under investigation. There were no injuries.

WBCA will start broadcasting at 102.9 FM, between 6 p.m. and 2 a.m., under the direction of Boston Neighborhood Network.

The signal, beamed from a 100-watt transmitter, might reach as far as five miles away from its location at BNN's Egleston Square studios.

Around 11 p.m. Victim was apparently in a car and shot at from another car.

A week ago, a man was shot near the same location.

Developers have filed plans with the BRA for a 49-unit, five-story condo building at 3193 Washington St. at Montebello Road - across the street from a proposed 73-unit residential building.

Developers Fred Starikov, Stephen Whalen and Josh Fetterman are proposing 24 parking spaces - and 58 bicycle spaces - for a $13-million building they say is an eight-minute walk to Green Street and Stony Brook on the Orange Line and an easy walk to pretty much everything else that makes JP JP. The Herald sometimes seems to overuse the word "brazen" in its crime reporting, but the word fits in Peter Gelzinis's account of the shooting on Walnut Park yesterday.

Dondre Crawford, 20, was ordered held in lieu of $500,000 bail at his arraignment today in Roxbury Municipal Court on charges of armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm as a second offense, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm, unlawfully discharging a weapon within 500 feet of a dwelling and resisting arrest, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
