Cohasset Police announced today they will charge a 16-year-old basketball play at Excel High School in South Boston with misdemeanor assault and battery for an incident during a game in Cohasset on Wednesday.

A Chinese guitar player studying at Berklee was scheduled for an appearance in Boston federal court today on a charge of stalking for allegedly threatening the student who posted a poster calling for democracy in China, by saying he had reported that student's family to Chinese authorities and hoping the student would get stuck with a needle by an addict at South Bay and then eaten. The BC Heights reports that a month after Boston College banned students from riding e-scooters indoors, it has now banished them - and those powered mono-wheel things - from campus completely, effective Dec. 22.

"A number of BC students have suffered injuries from e-scooter falls," mirroring similar trends at campuses across the country, officials told students this week, adding there's also a fire risk when their batteries are recharged.

The Huntington News reports Northeastern University plans to fill some shelves in its Snell Library with books, which the library hasn't had since the pandemic. The News notes Northeastern removed books to expand social distancing for study spaces in the time of Covid, but adds the school first started denuding library shelves of books in 2018.

WBZ reports a bus carrying Brandeis students crashed into several trees on South Street at the Waltham/Weston line last night. Authorities say the bus was bringing students back from a hockey game at Northeastern, although Brandeis itself says the bus was part of the school's regular weekend shuttle service to and from Boston and Cambridge.

Fretful that Harvardians are not fighting fiercely enough because they have no mascot, only a color, the school's undergraduate government is looking at creating an official mascot for the school in the form of a turkey - and it's allocated $1,000 to buy a large turkey outfit to test out the idea at The Game this weekend, where Yale fans will no doubt give the idea the respect it deserves. Possible next steps in BU expansion

Boston University recently filed a 10-year, $1-billion "institutional master plan" that calls for a new research building, possibly up to 16 stories, and a new premium student dorm, along with an expansion of solar panels across the campus and a major rehab of the Warren Towers dorms on Commonwealth Avenue. Parents of two former students at the Mission Hill School, which the School Committee ordered shut as unfixable earlier this year, are suing Boston, the school's onetime principal and two teachers for the unconscionable treatment they say their kids received from not just students but the principal and her staff.
