The Boston Fire Department reports a fire that broke out around 6:30 a.m. at 87 Linden St. killed one resident, injured nine more and sent six firefighters to the hospital. BU Today reports the dead person was a BU student.

The Boston Fire Department says the injured residents and firefighters are expected to live. The department reports one resident jumped out a window to escape the flames; three others were brought down on ladders.

WBZ reports three firefighters were injured falling from the second to the first floor.

The Daily Free Press reports two students were walking near the intersection of Ashford and Malvern streets around 2:40 a.m. on Saturday when an SUV pulled up, three men got out and held them up - with one of the robbers warning them to just do as he said because one of his accomplices was out of his mind on drugs. The robbers then fled with their loot - a driver's license and a purse full of makeup.

The Heights reports city officials were concerned about keeping participants in the planned Last 5 walk safe - especially after more than 17,000 signed up for it on Facebook. Instead, organizers are now planning a vigil for 4 p.m. Friday on O'Neill Plaza.

When a senior at a West Virginia high school went public with her complaints about a religious, pro-abstinence speaker at a school assembly, she says her principal threatened to try to get Wellesley College to rescind her admission.

Wellesley College had a simple response today.

Eric Twardzik, managing editor at the Emerson student newspaper, took a photo after the race of a guy in a white hoodie being arrested on the Common after the Marathon. He tweeted it. Now he's trying to convince people that a) it was a hoodie, and not a turban and b) that it's not him.

Six BC students will graduate this spring with criminal charges over their heads after they allegedly broke into a Brighton apartment on March 16, tore the place apart, urinated all over the apartment and ripped a gas line out of a basement dryer, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

The six seniors were arraigned in Brighton District Court today on charges of breaking and entering in the nighttime and willful and malicious destruction of property over $250, the DA's office says.

Yes, Hyde Park has a town/gown problem. James Thomas, one of the owners of Master McGrath's on River Street, told the Boston Licensing Board today that Thursdays are Curry College nights and that the bar employs two door people to check IDs and make sure only students from the college just over the line in Milton get in.

"Locals and the Curry kids kind of don't mix too well in that area," he explained.

Officials at the Westin Copley Place say that drunken Tufts students who left the hotel lobby filled with empty nips and urine in February have forced it to increase security for all future college events. Well, except for the Tufts Winter Bash, which they said they will never allow back, even if the university decides to rescind its decision to cancel it permanently.

Hell, no! Some people in North Brookline want Town Meeting to double fines for creating a public nuisance because those PoS students just can't shut up at 2 in the morning.

Specifically, he said people coming from the Commonwealth Avenue area back into the town seem to be causing the most ruckus.
