Officials at the Westin Copley Place say that drunken Tufts students who left the hotel lobby filled with empty nips and urine in February have forced it to increase security for all future college events. Well, except for the Tufts Winter Bash, which they said they will never allow back, even if the university decides to rescind its decision to cancel it permanently.

Hell, no! Some people in North Brookline want Town Meeting to double fines for creating a public nuisance because those PoS students just can't shut up at 2 in the morning.

Specifically, he said people coming from the Commonwealth Avenue area back into the town seem to be causing the most ruckus.

And in that, Delian Asparouhov succeeded - which prompted him to apologize to the entire MIT campus early this morning:

I made a lot of people mad, and made many people very scared, and for that I feel terrible. MIT has already gone through a lot in the last few months, and my actions were completely inappropriate. I should have never written the email, and especially not sent it out to the entire school.

Asparouhov then explains what he did and why - too late to realize it was not the brightest of ideas:

A thronging mass of screaming teens from Braintree raised hell all the way from South Station to North Station on their way to the Garden for a basketball game, commuters report.

Some of the kids, heading to the Braintree High girls' championship game against Central Catholic, smashed a Green Line window at Park Street.

Jessica Infante rode part of the way with them on the Red Line:

Boston Stay Up:

Boston is a world class city and it's a hub for culture, higher education and the arts; but unlike most world class cities, public transportation doesn't run all night. As students of Suffolk University, the MBTA is our main source of transportation and it keeps us from fully enjoying nightlife.

The Crimson reports on some petitions for improving student life submitted to the university, including one for a "a designated nap room in the Yard." Some students who favored the proposal said, however, they would be concerned about cleanliness - could they trust beanbag chairs some other student had just snoozed on?

Tufts University officials are aghast at an annual "Winter Bash" event earlier this month that ended with up to 20 students so drunk paramedics were kept busy "trying to make sure you didn't die" and with large numbers of students who vomited and pissed all over the place - two of them right in the hotel lobby - and who just generally treated hotel and university staffers like shit.

Dean of Student Affairs Bruce Reitman adds:

The Daily Free Press reports BU campus police don't have tasers and that what some people thought was a taser was, in fact, a flashlight the cop was using to signal a fellow officer during an Esplanade snowball fight at the height of the storm. Police say the student was captured and released after throwing a snowball in the cop's face.

What do several hundred BU students do? Descend on Storrow Drive and the Esplanade. Police, of course, arrived not long after to break things up.

More video (snowball fight starts about 1:00).

Is it possible to be nostalgic for life in an apartment off Brighton Avenue in Allston? Gaby Dunn gives it the old college try, in a reminiscence set in, oh, June, 2008, when the Grecian Yearning caught fire.

"The Grecian is burning," she'd texted me. "Come quick."

I sit beside her. “This can’t be happening,” I say. “Oh man, that guy’s drawings. They’re all gone now.”

The Tech reports last week's Cambridge power outage blew out so many wireless access points across campus that the school has had to order replacement units:

Until then, IS&T recommends connecting to the MIT network via Ethernet connections whenever possible. Students may visit the IS&T office in E17-110 to pick up an Ethernet cable.
