WCVB reports one student is charged with shooting another on school grounds around 9:30 a.m. The shooting was less than a month after a student was stabbed at the Dorchester school. Read more.

Boston College is out with formal regulations about scooters with motors that include such common-sense rules as yielding to pedestrians and not driving them hellbent for leather while on campus, the BC Heights reports. But also:

Students living in residence halls can store their scooters inside, but they must carry and not ride the scooters while indoors, the email states.

A federal judge could give final approval on Tuesday to a deal between lawyers representing Emerson College and its students in 2020 in which the school will pay $2.1 million for switching classes to online only after Gov. Baker declared a state of emergency in March, 2020. Read more.

Boston Police report a student was stabbed in the shoulder at Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester around 11 a.m. on the third day of school.

A 17-year-old from Randolph, too young to have his name released, was arrested after he turned himself in at the District C-11 station several hours later, police say.

Tufts Daily reports the university says masks can come off when the campus Covid-19 rates shrinks, but right now 6% of tested undergraduates are positive for the virus, so the mandate stays in place, no matter how many undergrads sign a petition to remove the mask mandate like other nearby schools have done.

They did it, of course, for science: MIT News reports physics students who puzzled over why the cream in an Oreo tends to stick to just one wafer when you unscrew it not only developed a device to apply different amounts of force to the unscrewing process but realized they had a good experiment for hands-on rheology: "The study of how a non-Newtonian material flows when twisted, pressed, or otherwise stressed." Ian Cheeseman recounts the story of MIT's Banana Lounge, which has been providing free bananas to the MIT community since 2018.

Thus far, 284,000 bananas have been consumed for the 2021/22 academic year. They get bananas delivered every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with ~48 crates each time.

Mouhab Rizkallah, who owns a number of apartment buildings, today agreed to drop his libel suit against two student journalists at the Tufts University newspaper who wrote about a protest about one of this buildings, but is continuing to sue one of the people he said organized the protest for defamation. A Hayward, CA man with a long history of making threatening phone calls to women police officers across two continents was arrested yesterday on a charge that he made a series of calls to Tufts University officers last year that sparked an hours-long room-by-room search of several dormitories, by both officers and dogs, for a supposed woman being held hostage by an ex-special services specialist with a taser. A Somerville landlord says the Tufts Daily wouldn't correct a mistake in a story about a protest outside his office that made him sound like a liar, so now he's suing its two top editors for $50,000 in Middlesex Superior Court to make up for the libel, emotional distress and invasion of privacy he claims he suffered.
