The Crimson reports the presidents of the eight Ivy League schools have called off all winter sporting events due to escalating Covid-19 numbers, that the fall season will not be rescheduled for the spring and that spring events, if they happen at all, will not start until the end of February.

A federal judge today gave several Boston University students, all trying to lead a class action against BU over the way it moved classes online this spring due to Covid-19, two weeks to show that they personally were harmed by the change in class assignments or have their cases tossed for good. BU Today reports 12 students were suspended for the rest of the fall semester and five were given lesser punishments because of their attendance at one of three parties that featured close-contact bare facedness as well as the more traditional "underage drinking, physical assault, and disturbing the peace." Boston University's Covid-19 numbers have shown a slight rise in recent days, certainly nothing BC-ish or even comparable to the rate across Boston, but enough to get officials to remind students and employees to remain vigilant and practice steps to reduce their risks - like stop going to parties and gatherings. The Daily Free Press reports Boston University put Phi Chi Theta, a "professional business and economics fraternity" on notice after the video was posted on Instagram. The fraternity in turn says it's put the members in the video - taken at an event sponsored by one of its alumni - on its own notice.

The Crimson reports the three freshmen were ordered to leave their on-campus dorms after hosting a gathering with three other people despite Harvard rules against such things in an age of pandemic. The move means they're still enrolled, but have to take all their classes remotely.

A federal judge ruled today that Northeastern University never specifically promised students they would be educated in person and so tossed most of a class-action suit against the school over tuition and fees for this past spring's semester. Read more.

Northeastern University announced tonight that it's reversed its decision to make 11 first-year students found in a room together forfeit roughly $28,000 in payments if they decide to re-enlist at the school for the spring - the money will instead go towards the cost of being at Northeastern then. WFXT reports Dover-Sherborn High School was supposed to open to students tomorrow, but put that off after a major party on Friday where up to 150 kids were found boozing it up without masks on. It joins Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in having students who just can't control themselves during a pandemic.

With Boston College in the news because of a Covid-19 outbreak, a school vice president e-mailed students Friday afternoon reminding them to wear masks, social distance and not have parties, at the risk of suspension.
