High school fights, cell phones and the Internet

On Monday, I posted a YouTube video showing a fight outside the West Roxbury Education Complex (and a link to a video showing a fight inside the school). Some folks took me to task, saying the video only served to promote the violence and that I was showing poor judgment (you can see the comments and my response here. The video is no longer there because the student who posted it took it down, for reasons you'll see in a moment).

One of the people I heard from was Sung-Joon Pai, the headmaster at Media Communications Technology High School, one of the four schools at the complex. He also took issue with my decision and explained what happened following the fights and my posting of the video. With his perrmission, I'm posting his first note to me and the note he sent to students at the school:
