The frigid day dawned on the Red Line this morning, which had some track crack near Charles/MGH this morning, but crews were able to repair it, the MBTA reports.

The MBTA first reported problems on the Red Line due to some vague track problem at Broadway, but now says you can blame the current delays on signal problems at Broadway.

Man wanted for slicing somebody at Wellington

Transit Police report they are looking for a guy they say sliced a man with a knife at the Wellington Orange Line stop around 5:30 a.m. on Dec. 29. Read more.

An inbound Red Line train pulled into Andrew shortly before 6:30 a.m. and then it suffered an embarrassing door problem that forced all the trains behind it to back up until the T could get the train and its stuck door out of there.

MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng this morning released a proposed schedule for track repairs across most of the T subway system in 2024 that will mean more of the multi-day shutdowns riders have grown accustomed to over the past couple of years, but which he says will ultimately mean faster, smoother rides. The MBTA reports a Red Line train gave up the ghost at Quincy Adams bollixed up Braintree Line service tonight.

At least two Red Line trains died in the morning commute.

Right out of the gate, at like 5:15 a.m., the T was announcing delays on the Red Line because of problems completing overnight repair work.

At 6:56 a.m., the T reported delays on the Orange Line after one of its new Orange Line trains developed a case of the Mondays at North Station. Read more.

Transit Police report they are looking for an older guy they say exposed himself at the Porter Square Red Line stop around 11 p.m. on Oct. 15 and that he reacted to somebody telling him to zip it up by kicking the person. Read more.

The T reports the 16-day shutdown of the two lines worked, at least so far: All 38 slow zones on the Mattapan Line and the Red Line's Ashmont branch have become normal zones again.

Transit Police report that around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, a man "committed a lewd act" in front of several people waiting for a train at Andrew station. Detectives were able to track the guy, who has "a history of these offenses," and issued him a summons to appear in court for being open and gross, police say.

Martin Owens noticed this unusual bus at Ashmont this morning doing shuttle duty as part of the MBTA's Mattapan/Red Line shuttle service.

The MBTA reports some yahoo threw something on the tracks at Park Street that came into contact with the third rail around 7 a.m., shorting out the system and forcing the T to run shuttle buses between Harvard and Broadway until a maintenance crew could undo the damage. Service resumed around 8:20 a.m.
